We were about 1.5 hours into our drive from Canada to Seattle when we stopped at the gas station around 9:20 PM because my partner urgently needed to use the restroom. While I was outside filling up the car with gas, my partner went into the convenience store, which was open at the time. The worker refused to let him use the restroom, even after my partner begged him. Frustrated, my partner said, “Fine, but you’re a bad person,” and we began to leave. As we were leaving, the worker came outside and started yelling at us, saying, “You don’t talk shit in America. I’ll call the police. Go back to Canada!” Along with some other things. It was truly one of the most bizarre experiences I’ve ever had.
