After seeing a television Ad for this hotel I decided to book a surprise overnight for my wife and I. I booked directly through the hotel website and the bayside view room rate was quite reasonable due to our flexible schedule. We spent several hours exploring Bellingham prior to arriving at the hotel for a delicious lunch in their bar area. The view of the bay and marina from our restaurant table and subsequently our second floor room were amazing! Following lunch my wife enjoyed a one hour float session at Still Life Massage across the street from the hotel. She highly recommends! The room was beautifully appointed with a fireplace, soaking tub and balcony for enjoying the spectacular water views and a stunning sunset. While there are several excellent restaurants to choose from within walking distance of the hotel, the clam chowder at the hotel restaurant was so delicious we decided to have a second light meal without leaving the hotel. We travel with our service dog and there are ample paved walkways steps from the hotel, as well as a beautiful waterfront park area just across from the marina. For a quiet, restful getaway the Hotel Bellwether is a PNW gem.

This was our first time staying at Hotel Bellwether. We were attending a wedding close by which made this hotel ideal. Beautiful room with the view of the boats. The staff were very courteous, attentive and professional. Liked that we could take the elevator directly to the parking garage. We dined at some of the restaurants nearby and also at the Lighthouse Grill. Excellent menu options, superb service and everything we ordered was delicious! Cooked perfectly and nice presentations. We so look forward to our next stay hopefully in the near future!

Wow, what a beautiful property! I traveled to Bellingham for a work trip and stayed for one night, though I wish I could have stayed longer. The property and views are absolutely breathtaking. The rooms are spacious, clean, and the fireplaces were perfect for a cozy fall night.
The staff was incredibly kind and helpful from check-in to check-out. Special shout-out to the bartender, Hunter! I highly recommend taking one of the bikes the hotel has available and going on a ride around the bay.
The only downside was my room being on the floor level, directly across the street from the sushi restaurant. Despite this minor issue, I had a wonderful stay and highly recommend this property for anyone staying in Bellingham.

Very dog friendly hotel - our room came with: two little dog beds, 3 bowls (1 for each dog, 1 bowl to share for water), treats for both dogs, little towels on each bed. The area around the hotel is great for walking with dogs, plenty of grass for them to run around on too.
The staff was professional and friendly, we felt very welcomed during our stay. Rooms were clean and tidy, the hot tub was a fun experience for our toddler to play in (under supervision, of course). Our view of the bay was fantastic, and the fire place was a nice touch as well.
There are plenty of nice restaurants within walking distance. Overall a great place for a weekend getaway.

Walkability: Paved walking path around the hotel and surrounding area.
Food and drinks: Convenient, in-hotel restaurant. Wonderful breakfast and dinner options.

We got a water view room on west side of hotel. It was pricey but since it was our first time here, I splurged on accommodations. We had a deluxe room with jet tub, separate shower, gas fireplace and a balcony to sit out on and watch harbor activity. We had a view of the park across the harbor and watched kites flying. It's a 30 minute walk from hotel around harbor to get to park. Tiny negatives that did not affect our stay: the bathroom needed a night light. My work around was I put a small towel over the dimmed make up mirror. There are sharp corners where the metal trimmed floor boards join in the bathroom. This may be a design thing but luckily I didn't cut myself there. Also I forgot to tell the desk at checkout, the bottom bathroom hinge pin was about a third out. Door still operated ok. Shower designed badly as water hitting the door piles up on bottom ledge until it spills all over the bathroom floor. Should have a silicone deflector or something to prevent water coming out to bathroom. My work around was to spray shower toward back corner which minimized mess. Another negative that did not affect my stay, upon check out, I was emailed an amended bill that charged me 7$ for chocolates from the honor bar that I did not use. I took pictures of the entire bar and refrigerator items before departure just in case something like this occured. I called the desk from the road and explained I did not use anything from the honor bar. The clerk immediately credited my account for the charge. I did not need to send my photos. The take away, check your bill carefully. Good: Front desk staff were great and most courteous. Hotel offers bottles of water just ask desk staff. We stayed 10 nights and did not use housekeeping. That's just us. Whenever we needed anything housekeeping staff were cheerful to accommodate us. All in all, it was still a great stay. I would return to this hotel if in the area again.

Overall the area is beautiful, and I was excited to have a night away to celebrate my wife's birthday. After checking in we noticed there were ants all over the big jetted tub, bathroom, and along the baseboard throughout the room. We called down to let the front desk know, and they said they would send up housekeeping. A few minutes later a hotel employee showed up with some non chemical ant spray. He proceeded to spray our entire room with this ant spray that had a really strong peppermint smell. So we had a beautiful room we had to leave, because the smell was so strong it gave us headaches. Unfortunately the ants continued parading around the room, and was told by the hotel employee they are pretty bad in the lighthouse suites as well. Luckily we only spent $550 for a night away and not $1,000 for the suite. The front desk manager was supposed to call me after we checked out, and I never got a call. Normally I don't leave bad reviews, but we spent $800 for a room and mediocre food, had a ant infestation and was never offered to move rooms, a partial refund, free room service, nothing! Instead a can of cheap ant spray, a room that reeked of peppermint, and headaches from the strong odor. I'm a reasonable guy, but even after bringing tissues covered with dead ants I killed throughout the night in a bag to the front desk during checkout, all I got was a failed promise the manager would reach out and a $800 bill. Will not return

One of the best hotels I have been to in ages. Can't wait to go back. It's going to be our little gem to go to for quick get aways. Absolutely love it. The outdoor firepit is to die for! Trevor, Micheal and Kelly at the front went above and beyond the call of duty to make our stay feel like royaly. The rooms have little extras like beautiful huge beds that sit high with beautiful linens, Molten Brown soaps and cream ( just amazing, a Nespresso makers and nice teas for the morning and a balcony with chairs and table to enjoy the sunset ? with, snacks and drinks in the room if you with purchase, a huge soaker tub with jets if want truly relax. But as I mentioned before THAT firepit outside is to die for. Even in the winter, bundle up and sit outside withe view. You won't regret it. Get a drink and watch the sunrise or sunset. It will be memorable. The food was also amazing. The also had the cornhole game that everyone was playing and a beautiful walk you can take along the marina water.
It's boutique hotel with amazing charm. Love it. It was the beat 3 days away in years. Thank you Bellwether for everything and can't wait to see you again soon. Oh let's not forget the fresh cookies at the front counter! Nice touch!
Rooms: Luxury, beautiful balcony, great touches, huge tubs, Beautiful bathrooms, robes, slippers, Nespresso maker.
Nearby activities: Awesome restaurants nextdoor and great walks along the water.
Safety: Extremely safe.
Walkability: You can walk for days and all by the water. Just beautiful.
Food and drinks: Tons to eat.
Noteworthy details: Just go, you won't regret it!

Attended a wedding here. The various restaurants along with the local town have some great food choices. It's a pricey hotel though

I recently tried to book and pay for a stay at Hotel Bellwether as a wedding gift for my nephew. After completing an authorization form (a PDF that had to be manually completed, scanned and returned), I was unexpectedly asked to provide front and back photos of my driver's license and credit card via email. This request is not only insecure but also outdated. Sharing sensitive information via email poses significant risks, including potential identity theft.
The booking process was cumbersome and inefficient, involving multiple steps and outdated practices. Even after repeated attempts to resolve the issue via phone, the response was slow, confusing, and unhelpful. I contacted the General Manager, and he called me back to assured me it was to prevent credit card fraud, and in my best interest.
I suggest that Hotel Bellwether consider adopting a more secure, modern system for handling such sensitive information. A secure online portal would greatly enhance both security and convenience for guests.

I was just a tag along but wow. This is the place you take someone you want to give the world too.
