About The Salvation Army Food Bank and Social Services
The Salvation Army Food Bank and Social Services serves residents of Whatcom County by providing food and support. The food bank currently offers walk-up self-serve distribution on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 1pm, and on Mondays from 1pm to 3pm for seniors only. People can arrive and be served without an appointment. The organization is appreciated for its kindness and the help it offers, with many beneficiaries expressing gratitude for having enough food to eat and the energy needed to get through tough times. Several reviews highlight that the food provided is useful and has helped prevent hunger, especially during periods of unemployment or financial difficulty. However, some visitors have had mixed experiences. One person shared a negative encounter with a staff member, feeling humiliated after being corrected about taking items from the coolers. Despite this, most reviews describe staff and volunteers as kind and helpful. The closure of the thrift store was initially upsetting, but the community is glad to have the food bank as a vital resource. Overall, The Salvation Army Food Bank and Social Services is seen as a helpful and caring place that serves the community in times of need.

They have an excellent selection, but most of the time the fruits and vegetables are already dead.
