Sun Retreat Came on the Veterans Day weekend and stayed for 5 days we have been Diamond members for quite a few years a watched if go from 5 stat to a 2And given that because of staff. This weekend was a tremendous change. Only reason not 5 stars is its not there yet with the renovations still a work in progress but can see it happening there’s a lot of things that need upgrading and realize it’s going to take time but ones it’s finished will be a 5 star againThank youRichard Lanyon

This place does not know how to do reservations. Paying the amount we do here and they can’t keep 2 parties booking together in side by side spots. Has happened more than one occasion. Pool is ripped up and all the mistakes are blamed on construction within the park. How can you run a business of groups camping together when the groups are not allowed to camp together.

Great location, currently undergoing a fairly major overhaul under new management/ownership. Will be an awesome location once site pads, pools and clubhouses are finished being updated.Borders state park so typically quiet area, nice and close (short bike ride) to Birch Bay businesses and beach!

I have gone to Sun Retreats since I was a child (it was named Beachwood before) I have always enjoyed the little getaway we have here. The new owners are doing a lot of renovations and improving it which is nice, I only wish they had renovated the pool in the winter so that it could’ve been ready for this summer.

WiFi was slow, but new and the instructions to connect were not correct. The facilities are all under full renovation, so it was pricey for its current condition, but fine for an overnight stay when everything else was booked.Noteworthy details: Background noise from the nearby refinery was continuous, but fortunately not too loud.

We have been KM members for years. We saw our park slowly declining. Since you have bought the property, all I see is a wonderful future for this park for years for future generations. The reservation staff are fantastic. They bend over backwards to accommodate. Thanks for everything. Can't wait until next year to see more improvements. ?

My family has held a membership here at Beachwood/ Sun retreats for years. This year they raised our yearly fee and they have the audacity to tell me they don't send invoices anymore for the yearly fee. They have been "constructing" on the adult pool for months with no date or idea of when completion will be. Since Sun Retreats has taken over, the quality of customer service has SUFFERED. It's too bad they've turned this beautiful place into a place of corporate baggage with no regard to the patrons who pay their bills. Do better.

This is no longer Beachwood. Bought by an out of state company which is not in tune with Northwest camping, sites are sanitized of trees and shrubbery which provide privacy. As their main corporate business is transient visitors, previous (& current) members are not priority: we were told at the entry that there will be no newsletter and no activities scheduled.LODGINGDespite company statements and pictures in their summary, ALL rental trailers have been removed from their previous sites, serving workers instead of members or guests. Their vision sees uniform & centralized utility and water hookups, leading the sites to appear visually smaller row after row.CLOSEDWork on the camp continues. Whole camping sections G, H & tenting, the youth clubhouse and the adult pool & both spas are still closed.NEARBYAt the south end of the camp, a fully equipped general store offers what you may have forgotten alongside sushi and sake. Of course lovely Birch Bay and the State Park waterfront are nearby. And the ice cream & sweets "C" shop is just down the hill!

Ridiculously small sites! Layout creates 1/2 site of usable space. Share your yard with your neighbor whose door faces yours. Stupid borders in middle with a garden area allows about 1 1/2 feet for access from front to rear of unit. Talk about tripping hazard!! Must walk in garden to get by table & motorhome. Also bright street light that shines in the bedroom window and in our camp space putting us in the spot light while sitting out in the evening. Super disappointed in the new renovations!!

We camp here and always enjoy it, this time the adult pool and hottub were closed for renovations… so the adults and kids shared the other sides pool - no life guard to make kids behave was the only real downside. And the new owners of the resort are not going to have entertainment or do the breakfasts anymore so they will probably lose a lot of the regulars that have camped here their whole lifeIt will be sad for the community to lose friends who are like familyI noticed the difference and missed a lot of great people.

Apparently new management is renovating, but not certain how long it will take. Long walk to the beach. The place looks run down and the adult pool is closed for renos. Perhaps it will be great once the renos are complete.

Noteworthy details: Was sold a cabin package. Don't have an RV. When paying this year's dues, told cabins are gone. May/may not return.Would have been nice to know before we upgraded to the Diamond package to 2036. We put our account into inactive for now. Awaiting a call from corporate office. Selling not an option as all transactions must go through their office. Past posts" claimed "that the office offered better deals and the sale collapsed. Will wait it out for now. Note to interested buyers." Buyer be ware"Vancouver, BC Member

We purchased a membership to beachwood about 3 years ago for $2800. It was recently sold to Sun retreats. When I called to make reservations we were told by Kathy they were closed and they were not sure when they would open again. I was very upset with Kathy to the point of frustration as we had paid our dues thru June and making plans for 2023 trips. I asked for a compromise extension for what we had paid for. That would have solved the issue. Instead she point blank denied that idea. They have since cancelled our membership and I obviously will not be paying the $500 plus dues for this year or ever be going again.UPDATESATISFIED FOR NOW AS CORPORATE SAID THEY HAVE REINSTATED OUR MEMBERSHIP AND EXTENDED OUR DUES INTO SUMMER SO WE CAN COME AND CHECK OUT THE SUN RETREATS.
