A really beautiful historical building remodeled as a hotel. A lot of quirky and whimsical pictures and murals on the walls which creates a unique vibe. The front desk person was kind to give us a late check out option. When I arrived late at night it wasn’t easy to navigate - could use more signs pointing to the front desk.Don’t have any space at the front desk to store luggage after check-out.

It's such a fun place to stay. The bartenders are mostly very knowledgeable and very kind. All the staff are very kind and encourage a great time. The fire pits are such a great touch. All the little details of decor are incredible. The bedrooms are extremely nice, the beds are mostly comfortable, I kept waking up to springs is all... there aren't refrigerators in the rooms, so we couldn't keep leftovers. Other than that, it's a fantastic place! Love McMenamins!

McMenamins is an institution and McMenamins at Anderson School is one of the most satisfying social places you can visit in this area. I love this place. The decor is old school, comfy and unique. Service is personable and the food is good. There is so much to do. A hotel and a restaurant and a bar and a store and a lot more. Basically, it is an experience. Pool is cheap at just $5/hr. Come and visit and luxuriate with your friends.Get a passport so you can visit all of the McMenamins.

Considering this for your wedding venue? Excellent choice! From a photographer's standpoint, this venue is exciting and allows for a great deal of creativity. Indoors there are quirky fixtures and a fun aesthetic, while outdoors has multiple gardens (pnw, cactus, tropical). tip: dip into the woodshop for a cool vibe.*this particular wedding was on an over 100 degree day, so we did photos rather quickly. Not the norm for wa, but McMenamins had a large white tent to save the day!Rooms: Spacious, fun, comfortable, and super fun vibe!Safety: I felt very safe here.Walkability: You can walk to the movie theatre, pool, bars, restaurants...because it's all on site!Food & drinks: Delicious and creative!Noteworthy details: Get the passport.

I attended the Porsche Club banquet at McMenamins. The catering was definitely "Service with a Smile." The appetizers were substantial and the buffet was diverse and delicious. I was particularly impressed with the host that guided us through the buffet, answering any questions and helping choose what to select. The bartenders also appeared to be in a great mood. PS - The Porsche Club hosted a great banquet. It's worth becoming a member just for this annual event.Walkability: They have an impressive courtyard to walk around and hang out. Space heaters and fire pits all over the place.

The history of this hotel is fun, but overall you do feel like you are in an old school and they overplay their amenities (like free coffee in the Principle's Office - this was NOT in the Principle's Office but rather on a small cart below in the dark hallway. Just a carafe of help yourself coffee.) We had several issues with our room - they put us in a dog room that was a dark basement room with only small windows up high even though we told them we were not bringing dogs, they room safe was out of batteries and when we called the front desk they said that they did not have the staff to change them (so we had to bring our valuables with us to the pool which felt very unsafe to me as we were far from them in the pool), and the HVAC would not adjust above 68 degrees. Also, the air in the pool area was frigid as there were two huge windows just open to below temperatures outside. It was terrible getting out. Further, we got charged for dogs and I had to call to get a refund. Finally, the Wood Shop restaurant was a staffing mess with mix ups on our food and loooonnnggg delays. They did what to me felt like a bait and switch on the room as the image of what I reserved clearly showed stairs / was a suite but the room they gave me only had a bed and sofa pullout. There were no in room - amenities such as fridges, microwaves or coffee makers. I would not recommend this hotel, at least in the winter, and certainly not for $234 + taxes and fees. Maybe the grounds make up for some of this in the summer? It very much felt like whoever cared to provide folks with a nice experience is no longer involved in the operation. Overall it is definitely over-rated and lacking in amenities that make a nice hotel nice.Rooms: They did what to me felt like a bait and switch on the room as the image of what I reserved clearly showed stairs / was a suite but the room they gave me only had a bed and sofa pullout. stayed here for the 3rd time now and still love it! my only complaint was I could have sworn it was a 21 and up establishment... apparently not? at the very least we thought the Woodshop was 21+ only. very disappointed when children were seated right next to the pool table and when not screeching, uncorrected, had their faces perched over their chairs right next to the loaded pool cues... made it difficult to shoot. maybe we should have taught a lesson, resulting in broken teeth? not the fault of the establishment persay... but maybe make it 21 and up? it's a major part of the joy of McMenamins... not having to be around children everywhere in public. other than a drain on the generally rad vibe, we had a great time. thanks for being such a welcome oasis!

Went there for the $25 NY celebration, it was pathetic, the band was bad, the waiting outside for a long time because they had technical problems we were told. We went to the restaurant waited 1hr+ for our food, which was not worth the $$. Most tables were empty yet we had to wait to be seated. Not enough staff to serve, overall it was terrible!

Here for New Year's Eve. Very poorly organized. And the band is awful. On the upside, the service at the bar is good.

Very unique place to stay. Loved sitting by the fires they had setup at night and enjoying a favorite drink from the bar. Great place to unwind. Will be going back sometime! Parking was prob the most challenging - it was very full when we were there.

The rooms on the first floor facing east were not too bad. Half underground, provided an extra barrier for sounds and heat. However, I think pets are allowed on the first floor - there was a barking dog for about an hour. The rooms are a fair size. There are no nightlights, so if you need one for a night bathroom break - bring your own. There are tvs in the rooms... if you need entertainment - or bring a card game and play at the little table in the room - or on the grounds.Food is okay, but there are other options down the street to the south.Plenty of parking.

Went for dinner. Interesting concept. Food sucks. Drinks are OK. Parking not too bad. Well maintained. Could be a better experience.
