Today I went to eat with my friends and I ordered a carne asada and they gave me meat with slices, when clearly we didn't say meat with slices, and the mulitas don't bring guacamole...

I can't wait to come back for another meal at Salva Mex! We had a really great experience. They serve dishes from Mexico and El Salvador for dine-in and takeout. There are familiar dishes like tacos and burritos but we went for their signature, pupusas, we ordered two of each kind! They were served with a cortido, a pickled slaw with a zesty flavor that perfectly compliments a pupusa. I LOVE the cortido here, wow! We ordered a plate of rice and beans to go along with them and of course and a plate of fried plantains which added the perfect sweetness to the meal. I like the beans in the style of El Salvador, they're almost like a flavorful puree. We washed it all down with a cold horchata and walked out with leftovers that kept well. We decided to dine in because the service and vibes were good and there was this row of big cozy booths in front of the floor to ceiling windows off Ambaum.(Note: There used to be two restaurants in Burien named Salva Mex, both on Ambaum but the one by Dairy Queen has closed(It is now Tacos El Hass). This Salva Mex was open on Friday night when we went and it is next door to Elmer's Bar & Grill/Burien C.A.R.E.S.)

They are open during Covid! I recommend calling in first because if you order in person, the wait ranges from 15-25 mins. I loveeeeee their pupusas. It can be a little oily, but it is packed with the filling. I always get cheese, beans, and pork. It is savory and cheesy. The pickle cabbage and hot sauce are necessary as it helps cut through the pupusa taste. Usually 2 fills me up!The tamal de elote was interesting. I never had it before. To me, it was sweet corn bread with a creamy, mayo-like dipping sauce. It's pretty dense and filling too.

Solid, affordable pupuseria with lots of space for kids. There are a dozen more within a few blocks, though, so it's worth poking around?

Dinner for two $15 My wife and I were quite happy sharing the Plato Salvamex. Everything was delicious. I rate the food 5 stars but overall gave 4 stars because I had to go back to the counter and ask for the curtido (cabbage relish). Will be back to try the Mexican food .

Best adobada I've had in the Seattle area, hands down. Asada was decent, pollo and tripa were good. Very friendly service, will be returning soon.

Amazing portions and super friendly service! Would recommend the pupusas and tamales. The side of pickled cabbage they give you is absolutely delicious too. Love coming here when I'm in the mood for a hearty meal.
