I shop here because I'd rather support this store than big box like Dicks, etc. They have a decent inventory that covers most of the bases to serve outdoor enthusiasts. I shop here when I know what I need/want, not when I'm looking for help, information, patience, etc. The service can be iffy, also reflected in other people's reviews. The location is off a thoroughfare so very convenient and parking is ample.

No back packs allowed so I can't get in because I walked there. Do you have security issues with Sr Citizens with back packs shoplifting sports equipment? Does not make sense to me. Your store is in the middle of nowhere. I had to walk for miles to get there. I am not allowed in because of an arbitrary rule? Forget it. I am welcome at Fred Meyers and Walmart (Backpack or not).

Need bait or tackle? This place has nearly anything you can think of. They also sell licenses. If you are wondering what places are hot these guys also have local Intel on who's catching what, where. This is my local go-to place when I need help.

They’ve got a good selection on lures and they have some you can’t find anywhere else, and they’ve got a great selection on rods and reels. But they have an awful policy on trade in’s. I bought a rod from them about a month-month and a half ago, tested it out but never caught any fish on it, but decided I don’t need it anymore. So I decided to bring it in today and get store credit for a reel since they don’t accept returns at all. The rod is pristine, it looks brand new and has only been tested one time. I go up to the counter with the original store tags and all and ask for store credit to get a reel that’s the exact same price, and the manager of the store turns it down immediately because the cork handle on the rod is slightly darker than the brand new rods. That is it. He said that he wouldn’t be able to put it up on the shelf and sell it because the brand new rods have a slightly lighter color cork, which also makes me think that they may be selling used rods labeled as brand new…so I’d avoid buying any rods or reels from them. They don’t have used gear so they were probably gonna stick this rod up on the shelf and say it’s brand new and lie about it. Don’t expect to get store credit when you bring a return in unless it is still wrapped up in the original packaging because they will turn you down for the smallest possible thing. Only giving them 2 stars because they have a good selection of lures and baits, but avoid buying rods and reels from because they will not honor their store credit policy.

Great selection of gear. Some of the staff seem like retail may not be the best match but I get it man, people are jerks. The return policy is archaic though no refunds. Still 5 stars though this place is amazing.

I am a daughter who inherited all my dad's fishing gear and tackle and I wanted to go fishing with my son on opening day this year. The day before fishing, I had a lot of questions about everything from what the regulations said, to changing the line on our poles, to what lake to go to, and what scent and color of Powerbait works best. Luckily I found Kevin who went above and beyond duty in answering my questions with the utmost patience, especially as they were so busy in the store. He also gently encouraged me not to over plan (for every east side and westside lake, special gear rules, etc.), but to focus on trout fishing first. He didn't say a word when I mixed up talking about how I put new line on with checking the drag on the poles. He just patiently explained how he would do things, suggested a great local lake for opening day, and what colors/scents he likes to have on hand. I am so grateful for his help and kindness. My son and I had a great time and caught 5 fish, let several little ones go, and lost enough others to keep us the excitement. So, I highly recommend that you get all of your gear at Holiday Market Sports Center, and also Kevin deserves a raise. Just sayin. As for competition, Holiday Market competes with Dick's Sporting goods and WalMart (who's employee in this department did not even know there was an opening day for lowland lakes).

Absolutely had a fantastic experience here. I was recommended to come here by my mother in law who said all the locals go there for fishing gear.I am just starting my fishing journey and was going to have one of my experienced friends join me on a little shopping spree. We are still going to do that shopping trip but I wanted to get a head start. My goal was to go in and buy a tackle box. Each person I saw smiled and waved. One of the sales associates noticed my perplexed look on my face when looking for tackle boxes and asked me if he could help. I explained I am new to fishing and I am starting with trout fishing. This gentleman immediately gave some tips on tackle boxes and walked me through some gear ideas. He had me hold a rod and was showing me how strong it was if I had a fish on there. He was really patient with my questions and when another customer saw him, that customer was like "you sold me my first fishing license years ago" (I think he says 20 years ago to be exact). This associate name is Glen and let me tell you, find Glen because he will take care of you. I ended up purchasing a tackle box, a rod and reel. When I went to check out, the cashier was friendly and reminded me to take my receipt in case I needed to return something (thanks for looking out for me). Finally, when I went to get my fishing license, the associate lady (her name escapes me at the moment) was super friendly and after we talked about my journey into trout fishing, she showed me some good stuff that she uses and I bought that too.I would say, the employees that I encountered loved what they do and gave exceptional advice. Whether you're new to fishing or experienced, this is the place to go. I can't wait to come back as a I continue to grow my supplies. Thanks for the great experience!!
