This place looks clean. I was able to find the things I needed. The staff here are enthusiastic and kind. The selection of food here is great.

I've been here several times, usually the service is ok, but they've lost a step lately. Below is one example of what I've seen lately. The staff had a pileup of 5 employees behind the customer service counter and about 20 people checking out on the 2 cashiers (and the self checkout). I asked a question about propane exchange at the customer service counter and they sent me to one of the already overloaded cashiers. The employees behind the customer service counter were obviously not doing anything (not the weekly meeting or anything). Just hanging out and talking. The cashier, who was really cool, told me that propane exchange is usually done at the customer service counter, that she's only done it once before, but that she could help me. She had to ask around and the line got bigger behind me. Not a big deal, thus the 3 stars, but pretty embarrassing for this Safeway. The manager needs to step it up and understand how to manage his people.

The deli and hot food just need to go away at this point. I truly love the employees. I am not sure if they just dont understand how to keep the hot food up to par. The Asian food is always dried out and burnt. A small amount of stirring would help during the time it sits. It just always looks so unappetizing, especially compared to other Safeway. The wings, which has always been stellar at other Safeway, always come slightly slimy and not crispy. The sauce is minimal. Then there is the fact that they stop making new food at around 5. That's dinner time for most. Something needs to change and if that means they close for a bit to train and work through the issues it would be great for the community.

Avoid if at all possible. They have gone from have staff stare at you when you are looking at things to allowing cashiers anti-mask (not that they wear them anyway) rants about how COVID isn't real as well racist rants about how Juneteenth wasn't a big deal, isn't a real holiday, and only for lazy people.

Went into this store to stock up while traveling. The store was clean, organized and well stocked. Every staff member we had contact with was awesome. Great store!!!

Night crew is lazy & rude. They do anything not to work. They've turned a nice grocery store into Walmart.

Yesterday I bought some gluten free bread and bagels from your store. As you can see when I opened them up tonight they are COVERED in mold. I am actually allergic to mold, and am super disappointed that the bread wasn’t tossed out or available for sale in the state it’s in. I’ll be coming back tomorrow, to exchange this for hopefully not moldy gluten free bagels and bread.

Was a Safeway customer for over 20 years until today, I went into my Cheney Safeway to grab a few things from the deli, the lady was rude and not wearing gloves, no worries until I got to the counter to pay, blue lines had been painted on the floor, I did not see them, the checker rudely yelled at me sir you need to stay behind the blue line! I moved back and waited, she the called me next, another man walked up behind me, and she didn't say a word to him , I said hey what about him you just yelled at me, she replied what about him , I said he isnt behind any lines in fact he's rite behind me, she could see that. She said I'm just trying to prevent coronavirus, like I walked in with it! I paid and she in a snooty tone said have a nice day sir, I told her to go f herself. I won't ever be back, they are doing nothing to halter the spread of the virus, and using what ever power a checker has to be rude and advantageous to customers during these trying times. Shame on you safeway who owns you? 11 year olds? Grow up

Mitchell's is now part of the Harvest Foods Chain. The Mitchell's Harvest Foods in Cheney off my list. Much of their products are over priced, off brand, or out of date, and the management is among the rudest you will ever encounter. Their floors are covered with broken glass and filth, according to the store manager on duty today. They dictate a dress code for footwear, and tell you to shop at Safeway or WalMart unless you comply with their tyrannical demands. I live in Cheney, but I'm crossing them off my list. I only shop at decent stores where customers come first.

6/29/19 We probably should have looked at these reviews before heading out! Nearly everything we purchased was supposedly on sale. When we got to the checkout, the employee asked for our rewards card. We don't have one because we're on vacation and don't live near a Safeway. My husband thought he had signed up for one in the past so he offered three phone numbers and the kid said none of them worked. Instead of scanning a generic card so we could still take advantage of the sale prices, he told my husband (after being asked) that we'd have to go to the service counter to sign up for the program. This was, of course, about 80% into our items being scanned. He just looked bored and then annoyed that we asked him questions. The service was non-existent; he clearly just didn't care at all and it showed.

I am tired of waiting 10 minutes to be greeted at the deli. They have the WORST customer service I have ever seen. When you get to the front to check out be prepared to wait again as there will not be enough lanes open to handle the customer flow. The sad part is, the management doesn't seem to care. To be fair many of the checkers are very nice and do a good job. They just can't make up for the incompetence of the rest.

Yet another surly performance from a Cheney Safeway employee. Isn't it the job of the cashier to greet the customer and at the very least say "hello"? I am so tired of the indifference shown here by so many of the young employees. Time for some re-training of basic customer service. Wow this Safeway continues to outdo itself in poor customer service This time my wife and I went thru the check stand while the checker and the "person in charge" their term not mine engaged in a full conversation while never once greeting us or even acknowledging our presence!! Plus the whole time the person in charge was in my way and not putting our bagged groceries in our cart, finally their conversation was over and she just walked away!! Wow way to go customer service!! Setting the bar low!!

I've always had an average experience here but my most recent visit is the reason I'm writing this review. The disrespect from their young cashiers is astonishing. I had a cashier with brown hair and braids and she and her bagger treated me so horribly. I purchased a donut that was in its bag and she scanned it and threw it so the other side. She threw my food so hard than my donut flew out of the bag and the bagger boy quickly grabbed it while laughing. He told the cashier that she had made my donut fall out (all while I'm watching) and she blankly looked at me and said "you can get a new one if you want". I was pissed and told her it was the last one (because it was) and all she said was "oh". The bagger boy said it didn't fall out of the bag (lied to me) and I was clearly angry and said "yes it did. I literally just saw it" and they both giggled and didn't say anything. Didn't offer me a return of my money, nothing! Worst employees ever.
