I oversee multiple commercial accounts maintained in WaFd Bank in Chewelah and always find big bank service and support provided with a small town personal feel by always-helpful bank staff and management. Personal service and a commitment to customer service in general are often a thing of the past in today’s business world but they are alive and well at this WaFd branch. These folks provide full-service banking with a smile that makes doing business in a challenging banking environment less strenuous than it could otherwise be. Shellie, Wendy and all the staff …. keep up the good work you do for the people and businesses of Chewelah!

WaFd Bank Chewelah is a great bank. Friendly, personable staff and rarely a wait. This is the way a community bank should be. Bravo!

This is a customer friendly bank and great customer service. Hard to see the employees wonderful smile since they are all wearing masks. But they are just as friendly and accommodating. It is one of three branches on hwy 395. One in north Spokane, this one in chewelah , and in colville one block off of 395. Have been with them several years. If you live in Stevens county this bank with its location makes banking very convenient.

My income is from Social Security which I receive on a debit MasterCard each month. When I opened my account, I asked if they would be able to do a balance transfer from this card to a checking account and I was told several times that it wouldn't be a problem. In fact for my opening deposit, they were able to do exactly that and I went away happy.

Then the next month rolls around and I go back to the bank to once again have the funds transferred off my card and into my checking and I'm told that they are unable to do that. I asked to speak with the manager and it was the lady that opened my account and transferred the money for me to open the account. She literally stood there and said they aren't able to do this as they haven't been contracted with MasterCard in about 6 months. I told her that she had told me it wouldn't be a problem when she opened my account and she said she didn't say that. When I told her that she had actually made that transfer the month before and I still had my receipt, she said she isn't perfect and must have made a mistake. So now I'm at a bank that literally lied to me in order to get my business and they can't perform the transaction they said they could do each month. To top it off, they keep putting holds on checks that I deposit. They put a 10 day hold on a check that cleared my friends bank in two days. Now I have to go through all the trouble of finding a new bank again, dealing with my auto pay bills and then closing this account. I would tell anyone to avoid this bank and their dishonest practices.

My transfers and direct deposits take multiple days to process at this bank, and have never had an issue with BOA, Capitol One, or BECU. I would advise anywhere else. When my money finally reaches me, I will be closing my account.
