I’ve had a chofu woodstove in Alaska
That heated up a four person cedar hot tub for at least 10 good years.
Those Chofu seriously kick ass!
I would highly recommend these Japanese well-made, highly efficient wood hot water heaters.

The Chofu worked well for 5 years and then started to slowly leak. Fraser who is a good enough guy explain the warrant is 3 years but it’s very unusual for them to leak except if turned on without being filled with water or frozen neither happened in my situation. What I’m saying is be aware the possibilities of it leaking is there.

I have to say my first impressions far exceeded what I believed the Chofu could provide. I told my wife I thought it would be able to get warm and we would relax in it during the winter. I had no idea it would be the cauldron of steamy luxury that it is! I literally had to dump water out and add cold buckets to keep from being cooked like a lobster. Such a fantastic problem to solve! And, if I keep on top of the fire, there is so little smoke. Give it five stars, my friend, five stars. Thank you Frazer!

Exceptional service and knowledgeable staff! I have owned a Chofu boiler from Island Hot Tubs for 4 years and am always amazed at how well it works and simple the design is. Well built product that does what it says it will and then some.

We love our chofu hot tub. We installed it 2 years ago and it still works great. Frazer was and has continued to be very helpful about all the little tricks to installation and running the hot tub. A 170 gallon stock tank is perfect fit for two tall people to sit in the ends. With the desert sunsets and chilly winter nights, it's the way to spend the evening if you want to awaken the senses and feel like royalty.

Insulating a metal stock tank with marine vinyl fabric over foam insulation works great! This photo was taken around 1995 and the whole setup is still in good shape in 2022. What I like most about the the combination of vinyl, foam, and metal tank is that it's very light so easy to move, it's easy to keep clean, and it's inexpensive and durable. My cabin is in Southeast Alaska and I visit it several times a year for a several weeks at a time. When I depart it takes me about 30 minutes to disassemble the plumbing, remove the stovepipe and rinse out the tank. I flip the tank over and slide it into the cabin by myself no problem. With the insulation, I can leave the tank hot at night and it's ready for a morning soak with little or no fire (depending on the outdoor temperature). That saves a lot of firewood. If you go this way, I suggest following Island Hot Tub's "Instructions for Making a Soaking Tub Using a Metal Stock Tank". For the tub's drain I just use a tapered plug like you'd use in a sink rather than a valve, much simpler. The metal tank/Chofu setup has been so much fun for my family and kept us all clean and happy off the grid for 20 years with zero problems. Can't ask for more than that.

We purchased a wood fired Chofu heater from Island Hot Tubs and set up a stock tank soaking tub more than ten years ago. Not only has the heater worked perfectly, but on the two occasions when we've needed parts over the years, Island Hot Tubs has provided speedy and friendly customer service. This is a first-rate company!

Bought a Chofu clear back in 2006. Stove works perfect and has made off-grid soaking a dream. IHT has been there for us chofu people for many years. Thanks for the great products and support over these many years. Just had to get some new parts, and they were ready to get them out the door!

Island Hot Tub provided exceptional service. Frazer was very knowledgeable about the Chofu heater, installation and gave great advice for building your own soaking tubs. We greatly appreciate all the time he spent on the phone discussing our bathhouse project. The Chofu heater, stove pipe and connecting hardware are all great quality, come packaged well with no damaged or scratched parts. As for the Chofu heater, it is incredibly efficient and easy to operate. Works flawlessly every time. Thank you Island Hot Tub!!Jason

I bought this from you in 2013. Here it is in Nova Scotia firing up at 6:30 pm on September 26, 2020.It has worked flawlessly since purchase and all plumbing you recommended for a 150 gallon RubberMaid stock tank is original - no leaks or problems. This Chofu heater over-performs and if you can afford the quality don't hesitate to buy it.We use a Honda pump to get water from the lake and next morning when it has cooled, back in the lake. No chemicals are required.RubberMaid stock tank is perfect for two people and it works for horses & cattle too. The Chofu will handle a bigger tank but this works for us.Island Hot Tub knows their product and this combination Chofu heater / RubberMaid stock tank works great.Happy in Nova Scotia!

Above and beyond. My Chofu from Island Hot Tub still looks/works great after eight years. It was originally installed it in a stock tank but a few months ago I transferred the heater to a copper tub. Years after I had been a buying customer, Frazer spent a ton of time patiently helping me, a non-mechanical person, to reconfigure the new set up. He also went over finish details with my contractor. My Chofu is installed at a luxe vacation rental just inside Joshua Tree National Park (conventional electric spa not possible due to off-grid nature setting). Because use is mostly by first timers, tubbing equipment had to be novice-friendly, durable, easy to clean, and stylish. Plus, we were able to create underground drainage pits to water nearby trees, and put precious resources to good use! It's difficult to determine quality when ordering online without the ability to "test drive" or even see products in person. Before buying my Chofu, I made an expensive mistake with another wood fired stove and was so frustrated with its clunkiness that I gave it to my handyman just for the pleasure of seeing it being hauled away. No one likes to spend money replacing bad choices but in the end pricing was comparable between the unsatisfactory product/efficient Chofu, and I was finally happy. Its compact, cleanly machined appearance makes it a perfect enhancement for my getaway, where guests can enjoy a modern/rustic wilderness tubbing experience without submerging in harsh chemicals or hiking miles to a muddy hot springs. Thanks for the great product and support, Island Hot Tub!

This hot tub heater has made an incredible difference in the enjoyment of our pool. In the beginning of the season kids can stay in longer and have so much more fun. I lost my drain plug and I called out and they dropped it in the mail the very next day. I had my Chofu heater for 15 years and it is still going strong.

We Found and bought this hot tub 15 years ago. We set it up with the basic 200 gallon stock tank, covered it with a hot tub cover we found out our local store and we’ve been using it all year round since then. This is an extremely affordable, durable and environmentally friendly option for getting warm any time. In the summer we use it as a cold pool. please do yourself a favor and get one today!
