I haven't really visited Coupeville in a couple decades and I was pleased to see the current state of it, at least a long Front Street. Happy to see all the rainbow flags, especially. It filled my heart when I walked into the bookstore to find a whole wall of LGBTQIA+ books and books with POC authors and topics. Maybe it's that my area of Washington is sorely lacking in all of that, but it was truly nice to see. The folks helping in the store were also great. I'll be sure to stop by again the next time I'm in the area!

Love this store! It has a large variety and two levels to look at. They feature the local writers up front which is awesome and they have local items like stickers as well

Cute and very unique bookstore on Front St that's right on the water. Worth stopping in as you stroll down Front St to check out their inventory of books. Support locals and "buy a book to go".

Beautiful store, wonderful staff, great selection. Don't miss the downstairs section with even more books, art, and materials. We live on the island and stop in here whenever we're passing through Coupeville to grab whatever catches our eye. We're collected some wonderful books, gifts, and prints by local artists over the years. Their social media is also wonderful and they clearly engage with the community and spread the love of reading to the kiddos at every opportunity.

Kingfisher is a fantastic bookstore, and I love that they have a downstairs! Extra floors are extra charming. And the folks that work there are really fun and helpful. I confess I had a little trouble finding the bulk of the fiction - I guess I skirted the store and went downstairs before coming back up and around to the register, which is where most of the fiction is - pretty much straight ahead from the door. I also love that Coupeville puts a plaque on the buildings to say what they used to be - and this was a confectionary (I'm pretty sure) which, I dunno, makes it extra cute.

Truly fabulous little bookstore - I especially love their broad nonfiction nature section downstairs!

This bookstore is fantastic! Great staff and wonderful atmosphere. The lovely lady who had just finished making her dinosaur nose for story time was the highlight of my day, she was so fun and kind! You can definitely feel the love for books and stories radiating from this place!

Such a cute bookstore right on the water in downtown Coupeville. We love their children's book selection.

When the tide is high you can hear the waves splashing against the outer wall from the lower level. Worth checking out the local maps and prints in the draws downstairs too.

Is it crazy to want to move to a different town for the bookstore? Is it crazy to want to move *into* a bookstore? Ok, call me crazy.I'm an avid reader, and I've read lots of novels in which the main characters work in bookstores (writers are generally readers, and tend to write about writers and readers, go figure) and they always feature quaint bookstores in scenic neighborhoods, where the staff is friendly, and they can recommend just the right thing for anyone. Perhaps a romance will bloom or the main character will stumble upon a mystery? Either way, I always read about those bookstores and rolled my eyes, "oh, ok, sure... as if that bookstore exists..." Well, it does, and I finally found it. This tiny store (two narrow floors) has everything. It's almost hard to look around and take it all in. Historic books, local books, maps, art, little gifts, cards, used books, calendars, craft projects... I feel my wish list growing as I write this! Next time, I'm bringing my sleeping bag and hoping they don't notice me setting up in a corner. Maybe I can stay up all night, reading by candlelight to the gentle sound of the waves lapping against the seawall outside. Who knows, maybe I'll even solve a local mystery.

What a view downstairs! Check out the cookbooks downstairs and enjoy the open air view of the water too. This bookstore is a nice reprieve from online purchasing and e-books.

One of, if not my favorite, places on Whidbey for me. Along with being an excellent bookstore with a wonderful selection, it’s a place where queerness is celebrated and it feels very safe to me.I am lucky enough to visit at least once a week, sometimes more. Every staff member is delightful and will help you with recommendations as much as they can. And the view from the downstairs window is just gorgeous (open if weather permits!) So glad to have Kingfisher as part of the Whidbey community ?

This bookstore is an excellent place to find a new book. Whether you know what you're looking for or not, the customer service is helpful but not overwhelming. You can tell they want to help you find your next favorite read, not just make a sale. Don't forget to check out their downstairs!

This is one of those bookstores that every other bookstore wants to become. The staff is knowledgeable, helpful, enthusiastic, and supportive of local authors like me. I have worked directly with Meg and Felix, and I look forward to any and all future events where we get to work together. I love every chance I get to visit this bookstore!
