We really enjoyed the food here. The pasta is absolutely perfect. The service is impeccable. The wine service is excellent! We had the sugar-snapped peas for an app and then the Buccatini with an amazing pomodoro with pancetta. The pancetta did not overpower the dish, which takes good pancetta and honestly a passion from the chef to balance the saltiness perfectly. We finished with the beignets with a blueberry compote. What an amazing dinner!I would have preferred a cocktail over wine or beer, but the service staff wouldn’t be able to keep up with drink demands for craft cocktails. I think in keeping with their low-prep for drinks, they could have a barrel-aged Negroni, old fashioned, or Manhattan pre-made, and gin & tonic is quick and easy.

Dinner here was wonderful! Be sure to make a reservation as it gets busy on the weekends. We started with the oysters, shared the tomato cod with polenta and the burger - both were so delicious! Finished with the beignets.

This is a great place to stay! Our room was clean, smelled good and was a good size and a great balcony to sit and take in the beautiful scenery. The only disappointment was not being able to dine at the restaurant (couldn’t get a reservation). I was able to smell and see the food. The owner is very clearly not a cook, he’s a chef and it shows. My wife and I have already decided when we come back it will be to stay here and dine here

Our large family group of 9 came for dinner in late April and ordered the bouillabaisse, osso bucco, fettucine primavera, bucatini, ragu alla bolognese, Judd Cove oysters and asparagus gribiche. All of the dishes were delicious--and our server Jenny was SO thoughtful and efficient and helped us choose a bottle of Sagemoor Without Rehearsal Sauvignon Blanc and a bottle of Big Red by Orcas Wine Co. The chef treated us to ceviche, came by to say hello, and then treated us to dessert. We loved our table (# 11) that was like a private dining area with a water view. We will be back !

Best dinner on the island. We usually order the duck, but we've tried pasta dishes, osso-buco (exceptional), and everything is great. The duck is a family recipe passed down through the chef's family. We'll appointed wine list, and dessert is off the charts (did the rhubarb crumble with homemade ice cream). Thanks to Chef Raymond and the wonderful staff for operating this great restaurant....

This review is for the restaurant only, the food was fantastic, flavorful and delectable. The tomato poached cod over polenta was so good. Buttery, savory and delicious. We also had the apple crisp which is served with a sharp cheddar ice cream. The dessert was amazing, keep up the good work.

The Osso Buco was to die for! Great customer service and the chef comes out to check on you during your dining experience. A friendly atmosphere and tasty menu!

The room was clean and comfortable, the view of the west sound was really nice. Unfortunately the restaurant wasn't open for business during our stay but the owner suggested another place for us to eat at.

A miss for us this time. When you go to 4.8-star place, you expect to enjoy every bit on your plate. All three mains as sub-par:- Over-seasoned burger- Salmon roe pasta - fresh pasta is too thin and mushy, with strong roe flavor, no attempt to make it balanced- Bouillabaisse - OK.If you need a guaranteed excellent fine dining experience, go to the proven places. Here it is not consistent sometimes.

Oh my goodness, how and why did it take me this long to dine at Kingfish?? Overall I'd give Kingfish 4.5 stars, but am bumping it up based on the view, overall cozy/warm interior, and flavorful fresh food (plus complimentary bites).I've been visiting Orcas every year for the past 25+ years and finally made a reservation on a Saturday evening for my family during our most recent trip. We stopped in around 6:45, and it was already getting dark (PNW October for you) although several diners were enjoying the outdoor dining deck. That view! They did have fires going as a source of heat, but it would have been a little too chilly for me, plus there is still a view from inside. For drinks my parents and I split a bottle of Orcas Island Winery Rose ($88). Definitely a tasty option, although I'm sure you could find an enjoyable, more affordable bottle/glass on the menu. They don't serve cocktails so you're going to want to be in a beer, wine, cider or seltzer mood!Since we were a bit peckish we ordered two dishes of the Grilled Miche Bread ($5), each small plate containing two slices. The barn owl bakery bread was indeed grilled and generously coated in Lopez Island evoo, kosher salt, and ground black pepper. I personally would have preferred slightly less seasoning but it was still an enjoyable carby snack.Oh! Our waitress brought out four complimentary savory Madeleines to enjoy shortly after we were seated. They smelled delicious but were not plant-based, so I opted out... trying to keep my dairy consumption down you know. For my entree I was debating between the Fettucine Pesto Alla Genovese ($24) and the Roasted Cauliflower Steak ($26). I ended up going with the fettucine and was very happy with my choice! The dish contained house-made pasta, Crows Farm Italian basil pesto, Hopewell Farm green beans, and baby potatoes. So much flavor! I omitted the cheese that they usually serve on top and the dish was still delicious. I would have preferred maybe a titch less salt, but it wasn't too too much. Even though the pesto contained a little bit of garlic (what an ingredient to be intolerant of, jeesh) I was a-okay. I appreciate that they offer a plant-based entree, but the cauliflower was missing a little something something, The cauliflower entree contained stewed tuscan beans, roasted garlic, pattypan squash, walla walla onions and tomatoes, plus smoked paprika. Some crispy roasted dino kale, toasted panko and a squeeze of lemon would have been nice. My mom snagged a bite of my pasta and preferred it as well. My mom and sister enjoyed the Mixed Greens Salad ($14) and my dad loved his Pan Roasted Salmon Salad ($38)... which is simply the Mixed Greens Salad with pan roasted salmon on top. So pretty! Our waitress brought out another complimentary treat--homemade chocolate squares--to end the meal. Soooo good! The right amount of sweet + bitter with a perfect melt-in-your-mouth texture. I wish I could purchase this chocolate at a store! Although I would end up inhaling it every day, so maybe it's a good thing that it's not easily accessible. Given the view and quality, prices are about right. The interior is very cozy and welcoming, not too dim like a lot of restaurants are these days, and definitely not pretentious. Service was decent, not extraordinary but no real complaints. Long story short, we're definitely coming back next visit!

We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed it. The staff was SUPER helpful and magically got the ferry reservations for us while I missed the booking opportunity. Unfortunately I perfectly dodged their restaurant schedule. ??♀️ Will have to save it for the next time. The only little problem is our room was warm, even with ceiling fan and an extra fan running, we still had to leave windows open at nights, also a way for bugs to fly in. Other than that, everything was as good as expected.

Great food and super friendly staff! Our party had Wiener schnitzel, steak, bread, berry crumble and wine. It was all fabulous. We were on the patio overlooking the water. Half way through the meal there was a heavy rainstorm, but they have an awning that kept us dry. It was a wonderful meal and view.
