Our little island is amazingly blessed to have such a top-notch, compassionate animal shelter here. The pets awaiting adoption are living a really great life, especially compared to crowded shelters elsewhere - the cats have large indoor/outdoor rooms to roam with plenty of cool cat furniture to explore, and lots of social enrichment. Dogs are walked and exercised, and they seem to get adopted away very quickly. The occasional, mostly senior cats who are tougher cases (due to whatever cat quirks they have) and who sometimes end up being "lobby cats" (hanging out at the staff front desks because they're too old to make a run for it) are totally doted on by the staff. And I know that the shelter helps out more crowded mainland shelters when they can by accepting overflow - those are some lucky pets who get transferred here! It's actually uplifting and therapeutic to visit the pets here. Adopting from here is a pleasant process - we have adopted several cats over many years of living on the island. Bonus: if there are kittens, visiting the kitten room will make your day. I really can't say enough about what a great shelter this is - thanks you guys.

Nonprofit animal shelter, provides low-cost spay/neuter for the community, a dog wash station, and many other resources needed for the four-legged residents of the island.

(disclosure I started working here) but the people working are compassionate and love their jobs and the animals staying here.I never thought I could enjoy scooping litter boxes, but the cats are so very thankful for the service that I really feel good about the work I do by the end of the day.

My old 17 year old dog who was blind, on his front yard was picked up by some “good samaritan” and taken to the animal shelter. They took him to the animal shelter because he was walking around in circles. He walks around in circles when he’s looking for his bed. The vet thought my dog was senile and thought better put to down. Asked THIS animal shelter if they could and they approved it. All with in 24 hrs. My dog es old, it was blind, it wasn’t senile. He walks around in circles when he can’t find his bed. You murdered my dog.
