The Waterfront Frame Gallery on Orcas Island in the San Juan archipelago is a highly regarded business known for its expert craftsmanship and personalized service. Established over 30 years ago by a local artist, Annie Forsythe, the gallery has a long-standing tradition of creating custom frames for art and pictures. In December 2023, George Merrill, a skilled furniture builder and artist, took over the gallery, bringing a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and a commitment to supporting artists. George uses a variety of materials, from exotic woods and gold leaf to simple, common materials, to craft beautiful, creative, and modern frames. Customers appreciate his dedication to quality, sustainability, and collaboration, often working closely with him to create bespoke frames that enhance their artwork. The gallery continues to uphold its tradition of expert construction while embracing new techniques and creative forms. Known for quick turnaround times and reasonable prices, Waterfront Frame Gallery is a favorite among artists and art lovers alike. It remains a place where craftsmanship and creativity come together to beautifully showcase cherished memories and artwork.
Since my frames were back ordered, George made two gorgeous custom frames for me. They were reasonably priced and done very quickly. The mats were great too. I frame a lot of artwork and I’m very happy that George is on the island. (Photo is of a beautiful Mikio Watanabe mezzotint print in a beautiful frame!)

George did an amazing job framing the painting of my beloved dog who passed away. He color matched and was so kind!
