While not the lowest cost, NW Natural Lighting's pergola quality, workmanship, and customer service is worth the price.
We decided to go with an aluminum structure with retractable shades, Bromic heaters, and rain-sensor mechanical louvers. But was more impressive was the work they put in to make sure we got the pergola we wanted with the criteria's we gave them. NWNL was able to design and construct a single 28ft long single bay mechanized louver pergola that used roof anchors over key points that didn't put additional load stress on our 10ft double-door sliders. It took some work on their end to figure it out and they delivered.
Additionally, they made sure that we were happy every step of the way. The took care of the permitting process and after that was completed, they worked with the contractor (who they recommended based on their past experience) with very little input from us and practically overbuilt the pergola. With all the customization that we asked for, it all fit together perfectly... even with the minimal delays.
What I appreciate most is their customer service. We had an issue with the Bromic heater (not NWNL's fault) and with the Outdoor Elements app, but NWNL responded quickly to mitigate.
Very happy with the results. Thank you NWNL... we really appreciate your partnership and commitment for happy customers.

I had all my skylights replace since they were 30 years old and NW Natural Lighting was fantastic, from the estimators who showed up to the installers who were in and out of here in no time at all.
I would definitely call them again if I needed work done.

The process was very clear and professional. The end of the year 3 device bundle offer was what appealed to me.
The install tech (Anthony) was on time, careful, and courteous. He did a great job!

They gave a very thorough installation plan and eventually the project turned out to be exactly what we needed - we installed 5 solatube tunnels
The team addressed all inquries in a timely fashion and would be great to work with them in the future!

Fabulous experience with Russell in sales and Jordan and John installing. Everyone was friendly and kind, professional, great communicators, but they also completed a very high-quality job.

Good communication and speedy installation
I was originally interested in install pergola on my roof top but NW Natural Lighting actually convinced me that might be violating the city's building law due to the final height of the building. This is very different from the information I got from other pergola installer's quote , and after digging more it seems like NW Natural Lighting is right. Can't thank them enough for being an honest business
I have another project with them later for installing a awning, the process was smooth and installation was quick (outside the time for waiting the materials), installers came right on time and finished much earlier than the estimated. All in all very good experience, would recommend

Excellent service. Scheduling was easy and everyone who helped us was very knowledgeable and straightforward. We spoke with other companies but NW Natural was definitely the best choice. The initial staff member who reviewed our current (broken) skylights was really helpful in advising options. He didn't upsell and helped me understand which lights would benefit from solar openers and which merely needed shades.
The installation team arrived on time, were super polite and friendly and worked very cleanly and cleaned everything up before leaving. They showed me how to operate everything and I would definitely recommend this crew to anyone.
We've done a lot of renovations on our 1937 house. This was by far one of the best teams we've encountered.

We had NW Natural lightning install 3 large retractable screens on our porch and couldn’t be happier. Not only were they the best price but because they are local their installation dates were within a few weeks not months. Best of all was the installation. Efficient, detailed and neat. Jason and George made sure all was right and even did a little paint touch up on bolts that had to be removed leaving the area cleaner than when they arrived. They exceeded our expectations.

They did a great job of figuring out where to put the solar tubes on the roof to get the greatest amount of sunlight. Work was done quickly and efficiently, and everything was cleaned up afterward. We like the solar tubes so much that we're going to get them to put even more in the house.
Update: We got even more tubes. Now we no longer have a dark house.

Waited for November to share that these sun tubes are transformational. Even when it's gloomy outside, they pull light into our rambler house surrounded by cedar trees, turning formerly murky rooms alive. Especially cool is how their light shifts with the clouds and moving sun...very alive.
Everyone at Northwest Natural Lighting was great, and the team who came over were two very efficient, smart and communicative guys. They got the job done fast and well, and adapted to a few structural oddities that appeared. Excellent!

Update 11/3/2025 - The pitch on the awning needed to be changed and Kailen was able to come and get it set for the rain to slide right off. Once again, I felt valued as a customer and was treated with respect. Thank you NW Natural Lighting!
