Absolutely terrible experience from the truck not being where it was supposed to be to the nondisclosed $200 deposit. Several other things went wrong just too many to mention I cannot ever recommend Penske!

This review comes with a caveat. Originally I would give zero stars. My truck was not at Home Depot when it was supposed to be at 1pm. I had moving people coming to load the truck at 3pm and wanted to hit the road at 5. Like I said, no truck, idiots at home depot were zero help, so I called Penske, who forwarded me to the Tacoma branch. They had a truck there but I had to go get it. Needless to say, unhappy customer. Got the truck, the people there were nice, but their excuses kind of threw their own company under the bus. Truck was fine, made it to my destination. When I got home I sent an email to Penske corporate letting them know what a train wreck this had been. A guy named Joe called me 10 minutes after I sent the email. He listened to my litany of complaints and was very apologetic and gave me $250 off my rental. So, they made a graceful recovery. I would recommend Penske but do not set up your pick up at Home Depot. Go to the Tacoma branch to avoid what happened to me.

Absolutely horrible experience. I called and ordered a truck with a lift gate so that I could easily retrieve and deliver some heavy gym equipment. Making arrangements by phone was easy. The call was followed up with an email outlining our agreement and quoted price ($150.10). I only needed the truck for two hours and though I thought the quote was expensive I agreed to move forward. I arrived at 1:30PM to retrieve the truck. Despite having a copy of the quoted price the new cost presented was ($226.13 + $200 security deposit). Remember it's for 2 hours! Nonetheless, I needed to get the equipment so I move forward. It's now 2:23PM and we go outside to inspect the vehicle. Guess what? It's not what I ordered. We go back inside and attempt to call Penske. They agree to check the local inventory to see if what I needed was available. I wait. Finally, I'm told there is a truck available but now I need to drive the truck that is available at the current location to the other location to get what I needed. I still don't fully understand why I needed to drive their equipment to swap it out for another. Nonetheless, I did. It's now 3:14 PM and the location I need to get the gym equipment from closes at 4PM. I get to the other Penske location, retrieve the truck and set out to pick up my stuff. They neglected to include the hand machine that I paid for. I finally get to my location (after pleading they agreed to stay open 15 minutes longer) at 4PM. I load and drop off my items. I head out to drop the truck back off to the original location and I get dinged for going 5 miles over my original mileage request. Those additional miles are because I had to drive from a Penske location they directed me to that was further than my original booking. I dropped the truck back off at 5:20PM. Not one time did anyone apologize, offer a discount or attempt any service recovery. I will never rent from or recommend Penske again. Very frustrating !

They try hard, work to please, could use more service clerks with training specifically on Penske rentals in particular, but seem to get the job done, mostly with a smile.

When we rent we use Penske there a good reliable company gives me an alternative to using U-Haul prices are competitive but if I want to haul my own trailer behind one of the cargo vans they use a standard 2 inch ball. And it doesn't make any difference what size truck you need Penske has the equipment for you or can get it delivered to you the staff is always helpful you can rely on Penske
