Continental Van Lines handled my cross country move spectacularly. The agent who handled my move, Tim, was very knowledgeable and helped me through the whole process. I received a competitive quote and everything arrived at my destination on time and un-damaged.

If your goal is to get a royal screw job when deciding on a mover, then Continental Van Lines needs to be at the top of your list of companies to deal with. Having moved long distances several times in my life, I know moving is never easy or fun. But the incredible incompetence (if that's what it was -- read on for an explanation) I and my partner experienced with Continental, and its sister moving company, Mayflower, plumbed new depths of ineptitude on our move from the Seattle area to North Carolina.Between the two companies, they managed to "lose" over 20 of our boxes. And interestingly, these were the boxes that contained many of our most valuable items. My partner and I, both retired professionals, merged households over twenty years ago. Both of us brought into our household, and added over the years, top-quality furniture, electronics, kitchenware, and accessories, including many heirloom keepsakes that a price cannot be placed on. Continental's packers told us to put our most valuable items on the table and they would take care of them. Boy, they sure did. These items just disappeared. Yet, as far as we can determine, the company never seriously investigated our expressed concern that we may have been the victims of an organized theft ring. While I am focused mostly on the missing goods, there were also a number of expensive items, including Riedel wine glasses and an expensive George III serpentine chest that were damaged.Wait, there's even more! Because of the value of our goods, we paid extra for full insurance on our move. Continental's director of business development told us that he would see to it that our claim was expedited. We produced two highly documented sets of claim forms. (We had so many missing items that we exceeded the capacity of the company's online claim system; we had to complete the inventory on supplemental paper forms.) The conservative total we came up with was over $25,000. After dithering for nearly four months, Mayflower has offered to pay -- drumroll! -- a little over $4K, using the flimsiest pretext to deny responsibility for the other items, which, once again, by the oddest coincidence, happen to be among the most expensive. This is exactly the type of shabby trickery that is causing so many Americans to lose faith in our country's economic system. Continental and Mayflower are owned by Unigroup, which also owns United Van Lines. No doubt the suits in the C-suite of this faceless, soulless corporate bureaucracy think their company is doing a great job as long as they get their lavish pay and bonuses. I hope our story convinces you otherwise.Well, as you can probably tell, I'm fighting mad, and I am not going to let this drop, and I am not going to be pressured into taking this low-ball offer. But please take our experience as a warning. Seriously, consider PODS or U-Haul to do as much of your own moving as you possibly can. If you absolutely need a long-distance mover, my advice is not to choose any of Unigroup's three moving companies.

This was a move from WA to AZ with a full household of stuff (3000 sf of belongings), transport of two cars and arranged to have fragile items professionally packed. The bid process was done via cell phone "FaceTime" walk-through of household items to move. This was very thorough and received good advice on what and how to pack. Movers packed fragile art objects and we opted for the full insurance coverage and also opted for the added service of the movers coming back to pick up the empty boxes and packing paper after the move so we did not have to deal with hauling anything to the recycle plant. The moving crew at both ends of the move were professional, well-trained and set up the new house in good order with beds assembled and all boxes placed in the room as per the box labels. Moving is expensive. If your furnishings are worth the cost of the move, then hire the best - and Continental Van/Mayflower is definitely the best. Would use this company again and highly recommend.

The movers were fantastic and took all the dread out of our moving experience. They were professional and creative when given a difficult situation to work with. We highly recommended Continental Van Lines.

Attention to detail. Got it right on all counts: packing, shipping, safe delivery of household items...including the fragile art works. So professional and great communication at every step before, during and after the out-of-state move. Pricing was clear and comprehensive. No hidden charges. From the bid process through delivery and set up - this company excelled expectations.

Most furniture was moved efficiently, and movers were courteous, and packed according to a methodology....but 10 of 12 valuable antiques, a delicate lamp, and expensive custom furniture was damaged or destroyed during the move by crushing or impact. Ikea style furniture and boxes we packed came through unscathed. YMMV. They did pay on the insurance that we spent extra to get, but it is impossible to recover some of the damage.....So if you have valuables or delicate pieces you may want to handle them yourself. Everyone was pleasant to deal with and delivery was on time.

I originally got a quote to move 600 something cubic feet it was $2,700 and some change I had to revise the list because I thought I was moving everything and all the sudden the price went up to over 5,700. My son came down and we loaded a trailer with all the bins elliptical machine boxes all the small stuff. The moving company only move furniture and 6 medium boxes and I didn't have a lot of furniture and they charged me for the full price of $5,700 even though I sent them

Couldn't be in Seattle for my move due to Virus restrictions so Mayflower organized everything and worked with my friend to pack & load the truck. The main reason I stuck with Mayflower is they moved my things 30 years ago without any issues & in 2020 the representatives were engaged and willing to make the move happen without me being there. When my belongings arrived on the East Coast the dispatch contacted me and the truck arrived the next day. Took 2 hours for 3 men to unload & store my belongings. Big weight off because I was able to vacate my apartment which saved money and anxiety for the future. Would highly recommend this team. Not the cheapest but I didn't experience any of the negatives that the lower priced companies offer others. Very grateful.

Awesome experience today with these movers! Dennis, Pat, Wendell and Julian were extremely professional and showed lots of care with my goods. They also took extra precautions with my residence ensuring that it was taken cared of preventing any damages. I have moved many times but this by far was the best experience. Thanks gentlemen!!
