We loved this Chalet in the Woods and the owner, what a magical visit! After shopping we sat out at the picnic table in the little pavilion with coffees and then warmed up around the outdoor fire. Found household items and gifts, exquisite tea towels and placemats, amber jewelry and note cards, and more. The book collection was amazing as well as the wearable items including uniquely knitted neck scarves. Loved seeing the sheep and the sheepdog out in their pastures near the pavilion. Arrange your appointment in advance. It is a very peaceful way to enjoy the day. Highly recommended!

Absolutely delightful shop in a magical garden! Incredibly curated, with handmade products from creators who clearly love and honor their craft. The shopkeeper offered a wealth of knowledge about the products, as well as local businesses and unique experiences in Gig Harbor, as we’ve just moved to the area. A beautiful experience!

Many years ago, my husband and I began visiting the Chalet for the restorative experience and tranquil garden setting. We were primarily shopping for modern Scandinavian tableware (Iittala plates, glasses, vases etc.). Over the last 8 years we have started purchasing more and more clothing items: St. James of France and Oleana of Norway. Our wardrobes are now made up of these two clothing lines - almost exclusively. It is so refreshing to be able to purchase quality clothing that is meant to be worn over and over again and that isn't styled in such a way as to be out-moded in a year. I'm still wearing sweaters I purchased 5 or 6 years ago. It is extremely difficult to find quality clothing at any price. If you're looking for a relaxing shopping experience and clothing you'll wear year after year, stop by and see Laura.

Chalet in the Woods is a wonderful place to visit for Scandinavian gifts. I visited after Christmas so unbeknownst to me it was open by appointment only, however, I lucked out and there was a group of customers that had scheduled an appointment. Graciously the owner allowed me and my partner to peruse the shop as well. She was a wonderful person to talk to and was even kind enough to offer us coffee and cookies. The shop is operated out of her home but is very professionally set up. She had many Christmas ornaments, towels, flatware, books, Finnish chocolates, etc. on offer. I was also pleasantly surprised she stocked the Karl Fazer chocolates I had in Finland. I recommend visiting whenever in Gig Harbor.

My favorite place to shop in Gig Harbor when I visit Washington. They carry the most exquisite items from Europe. My favorite of all being the Oleana line from Norway. The staff are all friendly and helpful making you feel right at home. A special thanks to Sarah who always goes out of her way to help you find the items that suit you, and special gifts for friends and family.

After living here almost 3 years I finally made it to this absolutely lovely little secluded gem in the woods!! It is actually less than 20 minutes from where I live! The drive once you get off 16 is lovely, farmland after you go past Sehmel Park. And when you arrive you feel as if you have landed in a magical place! First off the beautiful doggie greeted us! a big big dog and sweet as can be! Inside the shop some of the loveliest pieces you are likely to find - decorative items, dishes, and beautiful cloths made in different Scandinavian countries and France! Laura, the owner is so charming, she brought out coffee and cookies to welcome us which I understand is a tradition there and such a wonderful one! It was special as we were the only ones there so she showed us all around the store and then around the grounds, a beautiful covered outdoor area to have a picnic and the orchard with a variety of fruits and vegetables. Got a fresh fig right off the tree! I so enjoyed being there - it is so close but feels so far removed which is perfect. I will go back and take visitors there as well. Thank you Laura for welcoming us so warmly and for your time showing us around. Merci!!
