Gig Harbor Book Company offers fine, used books at reasonable prices, including the largest selection of children's books in the area. The store stocks modern and classic fiction, history, sci-fi and fantasy, Northwest and maritime books, cookbooks, outdoors books and much more. It also features more than 2000 vintage issues of LIFE magazine, 300 war issues of The Illustrated London News, and dozens of Mad and National Lampoon magazines. Popular authors are available outside the store for $2 paperbacks or $3 hardbacks on the honor system, including after hours. The business also provides a gondola ride, a perfect way to enjoy the beauty of Gig Harbor. The gondola is an authentic craft from Venice. The ride is a relaxing, enjoyable, and must-do experience, perfect for a cozy date. The gondoliers are excellent, knowledgeable hosts who share interesting stories about the history of the harbor and the homes around it, making it both entertaining and educational. They provide a true Venetian experience, complete with beautiful singing of Italian songs. Optional appetizer boxes are highly recommended. The gondoliers also expertly open bottles brought onboard and take perfectly posed pictures, such as in front of the Gig Harbor lighthouse.
The gentleman who runs this store is an absolutely wonderful soul. He talked to us about different books in his store, helped us find things we were looking for, even if they were on the very very top shelf, and generally just felt like a good person. Definitely glad we poked our head into this little shop.
