My experience with Gig Harbor Real Estate was one of a kind. I bought a waterfront home on the Key Peninsula in 2013 with the help of a very highly respected Loan Officer in Gig Harbor named Diane Dahl. When I was going through a divorce and had to sell the waterfront home in Gig Harbor, I called Diane to ask for her recommendation on who to use for a realtor for the sale of the home. As with many divorces this one did not end amicably. My Ex was ordered to be able to stay in the home with the opportunity to be able to buy me out of it within 6 months or the house was to be listed and sold.
Diane Dahl only had one recommendation for whom to use knowing this was going to be a tough sale to navigate. I have worked with Diane before and trusted her opinion. She told me that the only person in Gig Harbor who could get this deal done was Paul Elkins of Gig Harbor Real Estate. I had never met Paul before, and we spoke on the phone the first time and I knew he was the person to get the house listed and sold. When my Ex was not able to buy me out of the property there were many attempts to stall the sale of the home. Enough that we went back to court and a “Special Master” was appointed by the Judge and he acted on her behalf to sell the property. During this process Paul Elkins became the “go-between” with my ex and I and as well with the Special Master. He became invested in both of our best interests and at times felt like a mediator between us both. Looking back now after 6 months since the house was sold it is incredible for him to be willing to do all that he did. Paul remained professional, neutral, and kept us focused on the sale.
The process in getting the house listed was difficult. My Ex did not agree on the appraisal price that was given by an outside reputable Appraiser. Paul agreed to the appraisal price, but his strategy was perfect in the end. He wanted to list it for just below the appraisal price, have a “Broker’s Open House” and get it on the market to have the bids start coming in above what the asking price and appraisal price was. I was on the fence at first with this approach but ultimately trusted in his professionalism and high recommendations and reputation in the Gig Harbor community. Within 7 days of the house being listed on the market we had a cash for offer for $95,000 over the asking price because the property got into a bidding war.
I don’t believe that this property would have been sold even to this day if Paul Elkins was not deeply involved in the execution of this sale. Along the way before the home was listed Paul was a real professional that had one goal in mind. To get the property sold and to get my Ex and I the most amount of money out the sale of the home but most importantly to get it done quickly so we could both move on with our lives and put this behind us.
Paul has been there every step of the way. Weekends, nights, mornings, and even while he was on vacation he accepted phone calls from me. He has been encouraging and his experience and wisdom in Real Estate as well as finance has been invaluable to me. He has become a friend that I hope to always stay in touch with and will recommend him to anybody that is looking for a realtor. He will go the extra miles, he went on a marathon with us and the sale of our property. He got a tough deal done and I don’t think there will be a bigger challenge out there but if there is, he will take it on and I am confident to say you couldn’t find a better realtor to work with.
