Head instructor, Tony, has black belts in multiple disciplines (including Judo an and Jiu Jitsu). He is very knowledgeable in marital arts, friendly, and actively competing at the highest level. Matwork is smaller school, where students receive direct and detailed instruction. The mats are high quality and always clean. Best BJJ school in the area for anyone looking to learn self-defense, train for competitions, or to get in shape.

This is the best BJJ/JUDO school in Gig Harbor. It is just to fun. Their is just a smorges bourge of throws, chokes, locks and defense. You need this for your self defense arsenal especially women. I watched a forensic files episode where a lady being attacked was able to use her jiu jitsu knowledge to sweep her attacker off her and she got away. Basically her jiu jitsu knowledge saved her life. Why send your kids to school where bullying is so common. You think someone is going to want to bully your child with mma skills. The bully will move on to the next kid. Hard work and dedication is all it takes. We will see you soon.

Tony is the current owner & instructor. My 13 yr old son has been going here for over 6 months & in that time I've learned Tony has an extensive history in self-defense starting from when he was a child...the man loves martial arts & it shows in how he teaches. He is also great with kids, & strikes a good balance between discipline & fun with the younger ones. He has trained several junior competitive champions in jiu jitsu...just recently some of his newer kids walked away with gold and silver medals at a competition.

This is top notch stuff. The only thing you learns is skill if you are looking for a place to be the best of the best you just found it.
