About Issaquah State Salmon Hatchery
The Issaquah State Salmon Hatchery is an interesting and educational exhibit, open to the public. It is a clean, well-maintained, and pretty place, especially in the fall. Visitors can see the salmon spawn and swim up the outdoor fish ladder, which is undercover for viewing in the rain. There are plenty of viewing areas around the creek and a bridge to see the salmon and other wildlife. The hatchery features many informative signs and diagrams that are kid- and adult-friendly. Volunteer docents and staff are very informative, willing to share their knowledge, and do a great job leading and explaining all facets of the operation. It is handicap and stroller accessible with ramps. The surrounding area is always beautiful, with a nice trail and places to eat within walking distance. It is an icon of Issaquah, dedicated to saving the salmon. Some note it can be a bit boring for younger kids at certain times of year when fish are harder to spot. Many highly recommend visiting, especially during the annual Salmon Days festival in early October.

It was nice, but a bit boring for younger kids this time of year. It was hard for them to spot the fish or be interested in the exibits scattered through the trails. Want to try and take them back later in the year.
