Nice facility and location. Basic McMenamins food choices burgers etc are best. Good beer and drink choices. Disappointed in the "Ragin Cagen Ahi Tacos" neither raging hot or tasty... Service ok.

Our waiter Caleb was great. However some idiots had their non-service Siberian husky in the restaurant. The dog was licking the table, eating off of a plate, and was being fork fed by the bougie owner. Absolutely sickening. This went unnoticed by employees & management. We noticed. The owners of the dog knew we notice, and we were disgusted as we watched them feed the dog like a small child. There's a place and time for that, like your own home. Not a restaurant. Apparently they saw themselves as some kind of privileged humans. Not the case, we all put our pants on the same way. I just hope he sees this review, or maybe the dog does & can read it to him. It's not acceptable to have a huge dog in a restaurant licking & eating like a human.

Kid's Hamburgers were the size of 50 cent piece and for a two count it was $13.50 total rip off. Apparently the size changed because they are no longer getting hamburger patties pre-made. So cook has to make. They offered to re-make with normal size hamburger patties. They arrived 20 min. Later, at that point box up. We left. They did take one order off. Blackened Salmon = $33 (size 3” x 3” on a plate of rice) total rip off. Service has gone down hill.

Waited a year to visit the pub / restaurant. Nice place, but the food is overpriced and I suspect came from the freezer. $20+ for 2 sausages and frozen tater tots. The microwaved cheese was interesting…..I was frankly disappointed. A great example of waterfront dining making up for good food.

I rented a room very small room with king bed and the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in. If you like a hard mattress you will like it. I felt I may as well have been sleeping on the floor. Wont stay there again and wont recommend to anyone. The employees were friendly, waitresses and bartender seemed stressed and in a hurry trying to wait on everyone at once.Rooms: small and uncomfortable

Only went for food! It’s kinda hit or miss, sometimes great and sometimes not! Service is terrible and the wait times are horrendousFood & drinks: Hit or miss as far as if it’s good! In the summer it’s lovely to sit outside on the deck and take in the sun

This my home McMenamins ever though I live 100 miles away. I like the location (tiver walk), the food, the quick service, and the vibe. I grab a beer and soup and maybe tots as I pass by on my drives between Tacoma and Vancouver.

This is the last time we eat at McMenimins! The food was overpriced to begin with. The fish was fried to burnt. Our waiter took our order, brought our beverages, and disappeared. This was before lunch rush. Food was delivered by another person, it was terrible. We couldn't get the attention of anyone for drink refills or food remake. We gave up it took me 20 minutes to pay. We recognize the staffing struggle and for the cost this is a negative score - never again!!!

Very busy at 11:30 on a three-day weekend Saturday. Once seated, service was excellent. I wasn't too crazy about the Margherita Pizza. My friends loved the crab and shrimp roll.

Took my husband for an overnight for his birthday, so disappointing!! The location and views are great, but that was the best thing about the stay. Very overpriced pub food, drinks were average. Had to be on a wait list for seating, then watched 4 couples get seated and served before us. My $20 burger was overdone, paid extra to sub a salad, which was small and mostly pickled onions. Room was decent size, but had disabled shower/bathroom, so couldn't use the shower. Bed was one of the worst I've even slept on, very hard. The giant 2 ft. cobweb hanging off the wall greeted us in the morning. Couldn't leave fast enough.

Great spot and service in bar. Food was ok. Nice atmosphere on way to work event in Portland. Reminded me of favorite old time adventures in Portland pre-pandemic.*********Update*********I can’t speak to the hotel as I only had dinner and wrote the review above just after eating. However, fwiw ….. about 4 hours after my meal I became extremely nauseous and spent the following morning vomiting and with a healthy vase of diarrhea. I don’t know for sure that it was food poisoning but I felt fine on arrival for dinner and missed the conference I traveled to attend dealing with whatever I had.

Despite the captivating ambiance, scenic views, and an enticing drink selection at Kalama McMenamins, the culinary experience falls short due to a watered-down white bean and bacon soup lacking in both beans and bacon. I also paired that with a dried-out, flavorless chicken sandwich. The server mentioned that they made their own wine so I was excited and ordered a McMenamins Pinot Gris! The Pinot Gris provides an unpleasant and off-putting experience with a taste reminiscent of skunk! My disappointment in a glass dominated and overshadowed any potential nuances the wine might have had.It seems the owners should consider investing in a sommelier as well as some culinary classes to ensure the overall dining quality matches the charm and price of their establishment.Food & drinks: Despite the captivating ambiance, scenic views, and an enticing drink selection at Kalama McMenamins, the culinary experience falls short due to a watered-down white bean and bacon soup lacking beans and a dried-out flavorless chicken sandwich. We arrived about an hour before our reservation time. We asked the hostess if a table was available early, that we were available and would be in the lounge. She said she would text us when one became available. However, several people were arriving and being seated and did not have reservations. When our reservation time arrived, we approached the hostess. She said that she forgot about us. Errors can happen, but if a hostess is considering reservations and where she will seat people, you would have thought she would have seen our name again and it would have reminded her. It did not. Then to top it off. She didn't try to seat us at a table with a window over-looking the river. No, we were seated in an overflow room without windows. We should have just stayed in the lounge which had great music. Oh well, live and learn.

I have been wanting to go to this lodge/ restaurant for a while now, and I'm glad I finally did! My wife and I went here for our 16th anniversary. All of the staff (especially desk staff) were friendly, helpful and enthusiastic! They served delicious food and drinks, made to order. The prices were lower than what I was expecting for excellent quality food and drink. The hostess that was present for breakfast was busy but still seated us in the lounge area, and then provided excellent service. Me and my wife will recommend this experience to our friends and family and we will be back again soon. ❤️ We purchased passports and that added a fun element to the experience, being able to collect the stamps and prized, although I admit I didn't realize how in depth it is going to be to finish the passport for a completionist such as myself. We ate and drank at the Cove Bar, cloud bar, and the lounge/ restaurant and our experience was great! My wife said she had a great time from beginning to end. Thank you for a great experience, that's only 30 minutes from my home lol

Great location and view. Below average food and drinks with exorbitant prices and slowest service. Save your time and $ go elsewhere.
