On 12/7/2023 I stopped by STCU to cash my employers check . Upon my arrival I did not feel welcome there at all . The bank teller (Lucy Ocampo) stood there staring at me in a judgmental glare (as if I couldn’t be there for a service offered by the bank) . Upon handing my driver license and check to her and asked if I could cash my check she responded with “just a moment” . After her “observation” regarding my check she began saying that due to “check patterns” and “check numbers “ they needed to conduct a more in dept investigation due to again “check patterns”,”check numbers” weren’t making sense ? I proceeded to ask what does that mean and at the moment “Andres” which later identified as assistant manager states that “I can’t go into depth about this”. Lucy asked that I wait while she reached out to the person who issues the checks. There have been times I don’t cash my employer checks right away and even on the first time I went to stcu to cash my first check I was not subject to being treated as a criminal trying to commit fraud. I was left to scrape my funds off the counter as the bank teller walked away ! ( you’d think there would be some form of etiquette other than scrape your funds and beat it type of attitude)After leaving the Kennewick branch I called my employer and let them know about this unpleasant experience . I relayed the information about the “check patterns “ and “check numbers “ story both Andres and Lucy were giving me , she responded with uncertainty as to what they were talking about ? After asking my employer a few more questions regarding my experience with stcu it dawned on me that I was being treated in the described way due to my appearance and or ethnicity to be looked down upon ? Stcu did not make me feel of having an equal opportunity due to this harsh experience that makes one wonder what type of principles or morals allow this type of behavior in a work culture environment? I called back to speak to the Branch Manager, after being on hold Andres picks up the phone clearly stating he is the the Branch Manager-(of which he lied about ) only to learn later that he is only the assistant manager of which makes one think was he trying to cover up something they realized was wrong after the fact ? Not sure but you’d think someone in a leadership role would have integrity but again maybe stcu doesn’t care about having principles or morals ! Over all this has been the only worst experience I have ever had in banking . It’s not ok to judge one or treat them differently . You’d think a bank would treat everyone with a same opportunity equally no matter how they look , speak , what there name is ,etc! Racial profiled ? I think is the correct term for this situation? There’s another review where they talk about feeling discriminated against! This place needs better leadership!

The staff at Southridge STCU has always been very friendly and helpful every time I have made a transaction. I have dealt with many banks and credit unions in the past and STCU is one of the best!

This bank practice discrimination Kelsie from STCU ran my application and approved me for $10,000 then said if I was not a US citizen that I could not be approved, even though she had already approve me I have a permit to be here I have several banks accounts and credit cards, and never been told that this is the most unprofessional racist bank I have came across. I will definitely let my family and friends and coworkers know about this.

This is a very nice bank, they have a coin machine for depositing your coins. The building is big and spacious and putting money into your bank account is very fast and easy.

Smh..... I really wish they would tell me they were going to charge me for coming in not just give me a receipt at the end to show me I was charged...... Other than that super nice and friendly people.

Carolina was amazing to work with. It was a smooth process for my loan application, I was told the benefits of being a member with the rate offered and lets just say I'm happy to be a new member. Great friendly environment and I was informed of other offers but wasn't pushed stuff I didn't need.

Fantastic interest rates, free checking no fees, attentive and enthusiastic service. Good communication. Only critique would be higher dividends on money market accounts but that's splitting hairs.

I have banked with STCU for 15 years and have only had one issue with them. They are friendly and know what they’re doing! I would highly recommend!

Should have posted this a couple of months back, but wanted to pass along that if anyone is in the market for a home loan Brandon Reed is your guy. He will go above and beyond any of your expectations to be sure that you are getting the best loan for your money and will be upfront with all information necessary and will get you the answers to any questions you may have. He is certainly an asset to STCU and to the community.

Everyone that I encountered here was always nice. However, a few weeks ago I went in here to make two shared branch transactions about 5 days apart. I'm in the process of changing my name with BECU (has to be done by mail). I didn't have any problems the first time I went into STCU. The 2nd time when I went back in though, two employees informed me that I wouldn't be able to do this because the last name on my ID didn't match the information they had. I told them I was in the process of changing my name & that it has to be done by mail & they still wouldn't. I asked why I was able to make a payment a few days prior and she told me that since then they've been asked to start reviewing their "rules" as shared banking partners. I left irritated that I drove 30 mins for nothing, but, rules are rules. It's when I called BECU and they told me they have NO IDEA why they refused that I got more irritated. BECU told me that it shouldn't make a difference because STCU is just receiving the payment for them and if I had all the information it should have been fine. They told me that anyone can walk into a bank/credit union and make a deposit into an account as long as you have the account info. BECU's rep asked me to go back to STCU and hand them my phone so that he could explain to them what I was doing was fine but I was almost home by that point. Just tells me there is no communication there between the branches. Guess I'll have to stick to bill pay lol.

Not sure what kind of bank thinks being closed on Saturdays and closing at 5 on week days will keep people using them. Almost as bad as WSECU. But not quite
