This place has gone downhill a bit, I think the people that work there so do a good job, seems mostly like corporate pennypinching where they used to just hook you up with a flat tire fixed for free and assume you come back in as a happy customer now they definitely charge for it And I brought a few tires and that were probably fixable and they said they weren’t ready by any tire.

Overall reason for rating: Friendly, quick service. Initial price point is good (will determine further once I’ve had the car a few months/drive it more on the new tires). Clean facilities.
Date: Thursday June 19th, 2025
Vehicle: 2014 Toyota Prius C
Service received: Four new tires, balance, mounting, alignment
Employees interacted with: Camden, Hunter (2)
Product: Yokohama GTX All Seasons (70k tread rating)
Total Time: 1.5 hours
Total spent: $831.65
Context:
Over the last 15 years or so I’ve been a pretty loyal Les Schwab customer. I decided to try a different tire service provider after learning that Les Schwab sold out to private equity in 2020. I’m pointing this out because it wasn’t a bad experience with Les Schwab that encouraged this change. Les Schwab also pushes their own tire brands and you have to ask special order for a name brand (at least that is my most recent experience with them). Additionally, I wanted to state that this was my first experience with Discount Tire and my first time using a Yokohama product. Camden, the employee who helped me at Discount Tire was polite and professional and I appreciated his kind and efficient help.
Experience:
I walked into the Totem Lake Discount Tire around 10:30am Thursday morning, my plan was to discuss tire options and prices. I had to wait only about five minutes to be addressed.
The associate I was met with was Camden, I explained I was looking for an estimate and was interested in Michelin or Bridgestone tires specifically. Camden got my car information and looked up the tire options. He then introduced himself with a friendly handshake walked out with me to my car to scan my tires with some fancy doo-dad. He then asked me a few questions about what I was looking for from a new tire (comfort, fuel economy, winter performance etc).
Camden suggested I take a look at the Yokohama’s based on my criteria and showed me on his computer their rating. I asked him if we can compare the Michelin and Bridgestone options. Camden did pull up Bridgestone to compare to the Yokohama and the Bridgestone was nearly $300 more expensive for the full service than the Yokohama set. They also had the Yokohama in stock and could perform the service immediately. While I didn’t know much about Yokohama as a brand they had a good warranty and I agreed to buy them and Camden quoted me around one hour to complete the service (this was about 10:45am and he let me know the service would be complete around 11:45am). My car’s service was completed per the app at 11:43am (they text you a link).
Reflection:
It was clear to me that Camden wanted me to buy the Yokohama tires over the Bridgestone even though the Yokohama tires were less expensive. He even had a personal anecdote that he had them on his own car and likes them. My guess was that Yokohama has a deal with Discount Tire and I confirmed this after the fact after a little bit of digging online. I did share a concern with Camden during our options discussion of receiving tires already two years old in the past to which he let me know they don’t have much control over that as the manufacturer makes them in batches. I checked the tires I had bought and three of them were dated the first week of 2025 and one of them was dated the 32nd week of 2024. So they were not part of the same batch. I don’t think that matters much, but is interesting. I also did my own tire pressure check and they were all four set to around 33psi which is within range. (I used a JACO tire pressure gauge found to be highly accurate per Project Farm on YouTube).

*Be wise and take your business elsewhere.
I usually use the Discount Tire in Arlington WA and have never had an issue. Went to the Kirkland location for the the first time and left very disappointed. I bought 5 new tires and I specifically asked for tires that hadn't been sitting on the shelf: they assured me the tires were manufactured the end of last year (12/24). The 45 minute wait time I was given ended up being 2 hours. The crew that changed the tires nicked the edges of ALL of my wheels. Then when I looked at the tires they had been manufactured 01/24. So essentially I received tires that are already 1 1/2 years old. I wish I had read the reviews on this particular shop before going there. Lesson learned.
Update: 6/13/2025
I followed the link given to me by customer service and supplied my contact information. I was emailed shortly afterward that Discount Tire would reach out to me in 2 business days to take care of my complaint, however, no one from Discount Tire has contacted me. Originally I gave a 2 star review, that I have now updated to 1 star.

Used to go to Redmond location but they would hold me hostage all day even with an appointment. Called this morning when I noticed a screw in my tire. Arrived around 10:30am and left within the hour. Night and day compared to Redmond location so be thankful you have these folks around the corner from you. Also noticed them handle an entitled Tesla owner with no issues. These folks are doing everything they can with the limited staffing. Wish these folks didn't have to work in these conditions but I guess this is called discount tire for a reason.

Camden’s customer service and manners were excellent. Two wheels on my girlfriend’s car were scratched and he was very honest and efficient in explaining the process to resolve the issue. He also took it as a learning opportunity for the store, which is very rare to hear these days. Great job Camden!

Recently had Discount Tire put new tires on my travel trailer. The salesman was very knowledgeable and helpful. The team working on the actual tire replacement was very professional and concerned with my satisfaction. I have purchased many sets of tires here and will continue to do so.

Awesome location for new tires. Camden is the one that helped us and he is so knowledgeable. Out the door price for four tires on our 2017 Lexus RX350 is $1,490.
I highly recommend this location to anyone that needs new tires or tires rotation and balance.
Thank you,

They did not balance the four new tires I bought to replace my old tires. This resulted in some very bad vibration and uneven wear on brand new tires.

So this is just a straight-up lie. I've bought tires from Discount Tires for over 20yrs and the one time I tried to invoke the "if you're ever not happy" promise I was offered nothing. Not even a free mount/balance or road hazard certificates. Their ad copy is worth exactly the ink it took to print it. "Maybe you could sell them on Craigslist" Yeah, maybe I start buying tires at $1K a set elsewhere.

Disappointing. Waste of time. A complete fraud. Facts:
1) Go to their home page forward slash "services" and at the bottom you will see, "RIM REPAIR AND REFINISHING." There are some details about REPAIR.
2) Clicking on "Learn more about rim repair and refinishing" will then take you to their home page /learn/rim-repair-refinishing, which is all about REPAIR.
3) Made an appt for a REPAIR.
4) Showed up and the clerk didn't know what I was talking about. The Manager said they were a wheel shop and specifically said, "We don't do repairs. We do replacement." We sell rims, not repair them.
Those are the FACTS. Left-hand says one thing and the right-hand says the opposite. What a complete waste of time.

My first time taking my car here. The service is good and they took a quick time to replace my tires. However, my wheel rim got damaged and the tire cap got missing as well. It's too bad :(
