I moved to the area a few months ago and was excited to find another Safeway in my new neighborhood. Unfortunately, I’m left truly missing the incredible Safeway that I had up in the Mill Creek area off of 132nd, because this Safeway is terrible! The caveat to this is the people I’ve met in the checkout lines and the customer service area - they’ve always been pleasant and helpful. It’s for the people there and the pharmacy folks who are salvaging this review from being one star. Read on to hear about some of my adventures. If you don’t read it all, the major takeaways are to check your sell by dates and do NOT go into the bathroom. McDonald’s is across the parking lot - just go there instead.
My first time at this Safeway was back in late March. It was on a Monday, so I decided I should grab some chicken strips on “cheep” chicken Monday for dinner. It was 6:52pm when I approached the deli counter and saw there weren’t any chicken strips out. I asked the man behind the counter how long it would be before more chicken tenders were put out. He told me they were already done and they wouldn’t be cooking anymore. Mind you, the deli didn’t close for over an hour, and it’s the special of the day. The bone-in chicken in the display case looked like it was overcooked and had been in the case too long, as well.
On a visit last month, I bought the ready-made enchiladas, which we decided to have for dinner just after I got home. Upon opening the package that had a sell by date of the next day, my olfactory sense was immediately offended by a spoiled food smell. Since the store is just 5-6 minutes away from me, I decided to go back up to exchange it for a new product. The woman at customer service was kind and helpful and offered me not only a refund, but a free prepared meal. This is where it got dicey. I went back to change the enchiladas and ended up finding another one within date and 2 packages that were already outside of their sell-by dates. I take the “good” package over to exchange, as well as the out of date packages that are on display. I decided to open and smell while at the store - once again, smells spoiled. She apologized profusely and asked if I’d like to exchange for any other meal, so I go over and start looking through all the ready-made meals and find at least 5 more that are past their expiration dates. And these are items that are front and center when you come into the store! It didn’t leave me with a lot of confidence about food quality control.
More recently, I was in picking up a few things (now, trying to do my grocery shopping at other stores in the area and only picking up last minute items here), and I saw moldy rolls on the shelf and a bottle of heavy cream that had no seal on it. I tried stopping by customer service to let them know about the issues, but no one was there.
As if all of these things aren’t bad enough, the most offensive part of the store is the disgusting bathroom. I went in one day to wash my hands, and was met by the most disgusting smell - like I’ve been in terrible port-a-potties that smelled better than the overwhelming stench that was this bathroom. So then, I tried the second bathroom - not quite as severe a stench, but still one of the worst public bathrooms I’ve ever set foot inside of. There was urine on the floor in both, and I definitely felt like I needed to shower after being in there for less than a minute. They need a decontamination team to come in and bleach those bathrooms from top to bottom and then do it again!
Overall, you’d do much better to just avoid shopping at this store as much as possible. Truly hope things will improve here, as I’ve been a loyal Safeway customer for many, many years at another location and am even a FreshPass member, but don’t think I’ll be renewing, since I can’t even do most of my shopping here.

I'm not a fan of Safeway, in general. The stores are usually too dim, and the location of things is confusing. The signs above only partially help because they show what is closest to the end cap. The sign on the other side has other items listed. This store gets an extra star because they still carry Jazz apples 😀

This is my neighborhood store. My only gripe is the lack of cashiers. Plenty of self-check lanes.

Gentleman working the self checkout lane at nights (believe name might be John? Forgive my poor memory), was beyond helpful and just a great positive person to have gotten help from! People like him keep people like me returning to these establishments

Too expensive. Most displays do not have prices on them. And 85% of the time they do not have what you want. For example they were completely out of bananas at 10:00 p.m.

My tank was empty so I fuelled full tank on Friday evening , around 6:20pm and drove home.
Saturday morning my car died and was towed to the car shop ( i was without car until Monday when the shop was open)
When the check the car the find more then 50% water inside my fuel tank and this make a lot of problems to my car .
Be careful with this place

Not my favorite location. I find it tricky to get in and out of sometimes.

Just a Safeway. Pharmacy is awesome. Only problem I have here is that they typically only have one person cashier and like 7-9 available ones that are unavailable. I get that they are going the way of self checkout, but then get rid of all the other cashier checkouts or reduce them and put in more self checkouts. Those self-checkout lines can get super long at times.
