Best grocery store on Whidbey. Besides a great selection of the usual stuff, they've got an excellent deli counter with great options for picnics. Favorites include the fried chicken, tuna salad, cauliflower-broccoli crustless quiche, and the Asian noodle salad. Beware of the mildly grouchy staff.

Our family knows we can get quality products at this store & some seasoned knowledge that has been very helpful. This isn’t Nordstrom so appreciate the personalities for who they are & respect the very wonderful character of Langley if your coming for a visit

It’s my boyfriend & I’s first time to Whidbey Island and Langley. This was the first store we stopped at & as we were browsing the items, my boyfriend picked up the small handheld massage roller ball & the older woman in the shop immediately made a comment to him saying, “Oh, collecting DNA are we? I’ll just sanitize it. Theres only a pandemic going on!”There were no signs that we saw stating not to touch anything. We immediately felt both uncomfortable and not welcomed. Needless to say we won’t be back. :(

This store has interesting items - appreciate a place with more natural cosmetic/skincare options.Unfortunately we had a really uncomfortable experience with the staff. We overheard the owner (or maybe the cashier?) complaining about some other customers in the store. The group of customers had purchased a few things and some were still meandering around. The paying customers were definitely in earshot. It was very unprofessional. There is no reason to talk poorly of people in your store.I do not recommend supporting this business. I would hate for anyone to be demeaned like that! Hopefully the owner will take this opportunity to grow.

What a lovely surprise to stumble upon this beautifully well-stocked market on a trip to Whidby to visit family. The produce is pristine, the seafood fresh and local, the dairy and cheese section is abundant. I even found a full selection of gluten free flours in the baking aisle. What a gem!

Oh my gosh I can't believe all the positive reviews! Yeah the store is great and clean etc. etc. But as we are travelers coming in from a long drive, we are called to check the hours of the deli so we could buy some food before we went to our rental home. We were assured it would be open till 5 o'clock. We got there about 315 and they were just closing up. I was told by the person closing that they had no one to work at the deli so they were closing at four as it was Sunday. However this was on Monday!I indicated it was not even 330 and they said "well too bad we don't have anybody to work." They were somebody behind the deli counter wrapping up all the food and someone else cleaning the deli section. So these persons can work in the store but not sell me a couple of pieces of chicken? They were so rude and nasty I started to cry. I know every business on the island is really shorthanded. I wouldn't expect them to re-open the place once it was closed. But they were clearly employees behind the counter and the food was still sitting in the fridge not wrapped up. Not a great way to start vacation and we were already nervous about during Covid. It's our first trip away from home in over two years and I thought perhaps a small town would be a great place to start. Not at this grocery store.

Want fried chicken? Pristine seafood? Kimchee? Miso? Artisanal boule? Charcuterie? Rare whiskey? House made meals? They got it all. The wine selection is just awesome! I want to live there....

We went to this cute store on our day trip to langley. It has a great clothing store attached, as well as everything to can need during your stay. They were nice enough to allow me to use the restroom, me being the forgetful person I am, I set my wallet on the rack while.washing my hands. Then left and went about my day. I didn't realize I didn't have it, until I was trying to purchase or ferry ticket home (myself, my two kids and my grandmother). I reached out on Facebook and the owner Gene was nice enough to come open the store after it closed. Not only did he find my wallet, everything was still in it. I'm so very grateful to this store and the owner, such good people. I'll come back every time I'm in town.

Usually love the Star Store. Went yesterday after the CDC/State said it's ok for vaccinated to not wear a mask. When I walked in a young clerk told me I needed a mask. I said I thought they weren't needed any longer. She said in a loud, snotty tone: "We're a private business!" I said I guess I'll shop elsewhere. She responded in an equally snotty tone: "Go for it!" I did. Payless in Freeland is following State/CDC guidelines (so is Ace Hardware) by only requiring a mask for unvaccinated.... It will be a long time before I visit the Star Store again...

Been in this store twice and both times the lady that works there was up top. First time she said hello but we did not hear her and she took awhile to come down to check us out. Second time she was on the phone and I know she saw me cause I looked at her. She finally came down and was like you should have said hello! First of all I am the customer I shouldn't have to get your attention to check me out second if you are going to be up there put a bell out or when you see customers get your butt down and help out! Horrible customer service and will not be back

They sell our favorite fried chicken from their mini-deli. It's not overly salty and there are no factory-farmed off-flavors from the meat which is rare nowadays. Seems that the prices have gone up a lot recently but it's hard to fault them for that right now.
