Silver Lake Park is a very nice and beautiful lake and park to visit. It offers camping, swimming, fishing, and hiking trails. The lake is good for swimming and has canoes, paddle boats, kayaks, and paddle boards for rent. There are walking paths around the lake, several areas to picnic, and well-kept playground and grass areas. The park has three distinct campground areas: Cedar for tents, Maple for RVs, and Red Mt. Horse Camp. Sites can be reserved or are first-come, first-serve. The park provides clean public restrooms, pit toilets, a family restroom with handicap fixtures, a diaper changing station, and a shower. There is also a shower right next to the lake and big modern shower houses with running water, though the shower heads may need maintenance. Parking is ample with handicap spots. It is a great place to take the family, a good Basecamp for area hikes, and is very quiet during the week. Some visitors note an element of non-campers using facilities can feel unsafe, there are no camp hosts, cell service is spotty, and there are no sewer hookups for RVs. Overall, it is a great place that isn't as busy as some other lakes.
