Lake Wilderness Lodge is a beautiful and well-maintained venue, described as simply great and amazing. It is a gorgeous place for weddings, birthdays, quinceañeras, and other large events, providing a beautiful experience for friends and family. The lodge offers spectacular views, including of Mt. Rainier across the lake, and has lots of parking. On-site amenities include things like tables and chairs. The venue rental, managed by the City of Maple Valley, has rules with no flexibility. The real cost is much higher than advertised due to many additional fees. These include over $450 per hour for additional hours, a fee to use the built-in projector, and a fee to use on-site decor elements. Rentals do not include items like tablecloths or chair covers. There are numerous restrictions: no setting up outside the purchased time block, no flame candles, no real flowers or foliage unless in water, no rice or bubbles, and no using the kitchen for cooking. Catering must be fully prepared off-site. The dominant room colors are greys, beige, and browns. The lodge is also a decent distance from lodging accommodations. For those less concerned about costs and planning intentional decor, it is a really nice and highly recommended place. For those with cost concerns, it is important to be sober about all the additional expenses.
