What an adorable local, indie bookstore. I had a few minutes before a work meeting on Mercer Island, so I stopped by Island Books to browse. What I found was an adorable bookstore with cute nooks and crannies to sit in and read - with some added merch thrown in. The whole vibe of this bookstore was just so welcoming; I truly wish I had hours to browse.

Can't believe I haven't reviewed this store yet! Such a cool amazing book/gift/trinkets/ card/ store. More than just books. Each section has unique features and items to look at. The children's section is absolutely amazing! Loads of award winning books, toys, stuff animals and more! One thing I really appreciated was the personal reviews written by staff on various books around the store. A quick synopsis for customers to read that summarize each story. Easy to read personal and objective opinions on different books all over the store. They also have a HUGE card selection that I didn't have time to peruse. So I will have to go back. At the entrance they had a riddle which you could answer and enter to win a prize. No, I don't remember the question and no, I don't remember the answer but it was fun to ponder as I wondered the store. For sure worth a visit, if you are on the island. Cheers and happy Yelping.

Super friendly staff here at this independent bookstore. Nice layout and not only books but cute gifts like socks, stationary, jewelry by local artists, stickers, games. Favorite part was the staff recommendations of different books on display. No sale items or used books but I'm happy to support an indie bookstore!

in FOREX INVESTMENT I never believed my life will change in such a manner, i saw a review on a page about Ma'am Charlotte and before then i have never risk money doing anything online with anybody because i think i was so wise and never want to be cheated, but when i contacted her and she explained everything to me concerning trading and the profit i can make within a short period, i was convinced to give a trial and i took the risk to make my first investment, since then the rest is history. I never sent her money, but only created and fund my trading account all by myself and give her the access to manage my trads. her trading skills are unique and one of a kind. different from others please i am very happy to introduce all friends and family to invest in themselves and there family. Instead of looking for other evil ways to make money or to increase there worth in life thanks Her contact for those interested: Email:

Independent Book Shopping at its best. This little book shop is PACKED with great titles. The recommendation & genre specific sections are loaded with thoughtful suggestions and the friendly staff further enhances the bookish delights.Lovely children's book section and cookbook section as well.Add to this a good selection of magazines, cards & small gifts - and it is a must stop for book lovers in the area.

I might reveal my age by saying this but this bookstore reminded me the movie " you've Got Mail" where the owner of a little bookstore and her grandmother were surviving and fighting this new huge book-super store like Barnes and noble. This store is magical with lots of character, you can tell they've put their hearts and souls organizing and decorating it. What I loved the most were these sticky notes posted on certain covers with recommendations of those books. What a thoughtful idea for potential new readers!!! Books are organized by subject (dah! Like any other bookstore) BUT, here's the big difference, each area has its own space and ambience (for example the FOOD BOOKS area includes items for the kitchen available to purchase.) Definitely, the biggest area is the Children's book. They have ALL of them, new ones, old ones, for toddlers, new readers, famous characters, believe me.. ALL of them. Plus they also sell toys. Heaven for kids!!!! This is the perfect shop for holidays, you can find presents for everyone: books, calendars, toys, cards, kitchen items!! SUCH A BEAUTIFUL PLACE!! Nicely done Mercer island, nicely done

Great big, little book store! I spent so much time in here. If you're a book lover check it out. I went in for a travel book and walked out with the travel book and three more from different sections.

I was not expecting to find this awesome place in Mercer. On first sight what really got my attention was their exhibit window with lots of international female authors.I love that the staff is diverse and the recommendations they make seem on point.5/5 I would definitely be back to get more books ?

A great bookstore. I’ve lived here for decades and somehow never found my way in here, but I’m glad I finally did. The most pleasant surprise was the excellent science fiction and fantasy section. At so many indie book stores this section is an afterthought; some Douglas Adams, some George R. R. Martin, and whatever doorstop volume in the latest Tolkien retread series is on the NYT bestsellers list. I guess most indie bookstore owners are just unfamiliar with the genre (or worse, don’t think they need to be). Whoever curates this section at Island, though, put some real thought into it, deftly mixing bestsellers, classics, and some new discoveries. I went home with books by two authors that were new to me, and loved them both. I’ll be back to Island Books.

What I liked:Went for breakfast to Homegrown next door, excellent sandwiches. After that we decided to walk into this local bookstore, after all, local bookstores are one of my favorite places to visit and to purchase books and magazines. This place is bigger than it looks from outside, it goes deep and at the end of it they have a nice kid's area with a good selection of children's books and games. The bookstore has many old typewriters in display which are very fitting for the store and I left wondering if they would sell me one or a few of those. The atmosphere is friendly and very welcoming, the book and magazine selection is great, as it is all the little gifts and stationary. We purchased a calendar, a magazine, a few stickers, and a book. Loved it.Observations:There was a person next to us or very close almost the entire time my wife and I browsed through the store, I am not sure if it was an employee but it felt uncomfortable, this person seemed to be monitoring us while pretending to be looking at something else - and maybe she was, I am not sure but I am just sharing our experience. We'd be back, I am an avid reader and always try to get my books and magazines from local businesses. Also, don't forget the sandwiches next door, they are pretty good!
