Updated parking lot and bathrooms. The overlook building is pretty old, but impressive view. The walk to the overlook deck is pretty easy, and worth checking out.

The Boundary Dam Vista House unfortunately is closed. Seattle City Light does not have this info posted anywhere on-line. Nothing to tell tourists not to go, why closed, or when will be reopened. Google search revealed the WA State Dept of Ecology notified seattle city light in April 2024 that that the Vista House is now a confirmed cleanup site. (Cleanup site case #17023). Apparently soil contamination. So - SCL - please update all online info to list the closure for tourists. If you want to hide why, so be it. BUT, that said, this stretch of the Pend Orielle Scenic Byway is beautiful so the drive was nice. The new Peewee Falls outlook is open and was a nice easy stop for a lunch on the new view deck. If we had known Vista House was closed we would have skipped this route and spent our day trip going to the Gardner caves. (Tour reservations required fyi).

Beautiful drive along the Pend Oreille River to just one mile south of the Canada Border. Unfortunately the Boundary Dam Vista House was closed for construction so we ended up at the Peewee Falls overlook and several other short hikes that provided great views of the dam and river. The town of Metaline Falls was also worth checking out.

The dam was closed to tours for the season but we still got a good view from the Visa House view point.

Wonderful place to stop and take a rest. Beautiful views and a short walk will take you to an overlook that is spectacular. Clean bathrooms and an easy 2 mile drive up the entrance road. From the turn-off, it's only a mile to the border, so bring a passport and visit Canada!

What a great place to see the sights of the dam! Wasn't nearly as beautiful as the company I was with? but what an amazing experience! They should think about renting out the viewing center as a bunkhouse or a day BBQ area!!! Well worth the visit!!!
