This reveiw is long overdue, but i did want to allow time to show for their work before leaving a review.
I brought my 1999 Lexus ES 300 in to them in the summer of 2023. I was experincing intermintent issues with a code that would occasionally pop up, but didnt efect anything. The codes indicated a speed sensor issue, but that does not mean a speed sensor is faulty, just that the sensor picked up an issue within the system. It wasnt until my car would not shift into 5th gear on the highway consistenly that i knew i could no longer ignore the inconsistent codes. I also needed more refigerant so it was time to take her in.
My issue with the codes turned out ot be more complicated and there wasnt a ton of information in the forums to really solidify what was going on. Plus, for a 1999 production era car, this was bit more complex car compared to some of the other JDM cars of the same year. They were able to find the issue with frayed wires on the wiring harness (ugghhh).
However, the replaced the part with a cheaper part without giving me the option (not the worst thing a shop can do) and it turned out that the part they ordered did not completely solve the problem as it was not compatable with the cpu entirly, so the issue reared its ugly head into fram again, causing me to take yet another day to leave them my car. Plus they forgot to put the cap on my AC system after they filled it up with new refigerant. But they did me right by promptly ordering an OEM part, and charging me the difference in cost, while not charging me for labor. They also lent me a loaner vehicle as last time they replaced the wiring harness, it had to stay overnight. I also live in Bellevue, i had just heard good reviews and had bad luck with some other reputable shops in my area. I wanted a JDM specialty shop, and i grew up in Mukilteo, so i was happy to have an excuse to hang around town for a bit. Just when i had to keep coming back due to the reasons above is when it was not so fun. But that is not their fault.
They made some mistakes and they did right by me to correct those mistakes, so i tip my hat to them for that. They also provided clear communication and were very freidnly and forthcoming with everything. It is my opinion that they a very reputable shop and it is clear they have specialty for subarus. I recomend them to anyone i know who drives a subaru because they seem to be very honest and fair. It always gives me peace of mind knowing there is a shop that i know will do what is right.
I am appy to report that i no longer have any issues with my car and their work still holds up after 10,000 miles.
Lobby is clean with offerings of coffe and tea, and even toys in case you have little ones with you while you wait.
The only thing they could have done better was get it done right the first time, but no one is perfect all the time, but i can tell these guys do strive for perfection and dont hide or coverup mistakes for the sake of time savings.

Don’t use this place. They overcharge and the work doesn’t last. They charged $600 to check fuel line because my fuel cap indicator light came on. They didn’t inspect the fuel line for leaks and fix the problem because the light is back on. Then they charged another $600 just to replace my wind shield wiper motor. They are a big scam.

Look, bottom line, there is no good time for car problems. Smart Service will keep your Suby in a good reliable state. For me, even being well maintained, my engine was just too old. Having a trusted mechanic to have my car towed too is very important to me. Who do you call or where to tow your car in an emergency? SMART SERVICE!

Was taking my Hyundai to Edmonds Auto Body, but there are some things I cannot wait a month + to get taken care of. I was planning on taking my Forester there, but a friend rec'd this place in Mukilteo, and he was not wrong. They fixed me up for under the dollar amount I thought it would be, told me what was wrong (the problem was something I did wrong with the oil), explained the services in plain English when it was done, and even vacuumed the car (I did not notice this until the next day, I don't drive it that much)! I used to go to Grease Monkey for oil changes, but I have found my new garage for everything. Brilliant, and highly recommended. Thanks, guys! :)

Very good service. Their reservation system works well, they text and call. They have early drop off and after hours pick up, which I appreciated. Their work seems very well done and I appreciate the reports that you can access on your vehicle. I trust SMART Service to take good care of my vehicle. And their lobby is very neat and clean and welcoming.
