What a week. We arrived on Tuesday and departed on Sunday. The staff was amazing and the boys were inspirational in their stories, works and actions. We were unsure as to exactly what our projects would be once we arrived, but found that supporting the staff was a full job in itself. We had projects that included lots of housing landscaping, exterior housing wood maintenance, prep for house painting and clearing out a house filled with clutter ( of sorts ) that had built up for 30 years. That last project was a doozy. Lots of time was spent with the boys during meal services and gaming afterwards. Devotionals at the beginning of the day and at the end of the evening we're very inspirational. Skills in the kitchen were shared by many and the food quality was far above average. The accommodations were very adequate as the Men shared what could be called a bunkhouse and the ladies lodged within the main house. There were additional bathrooms within a short walk at the RV center for those times when all the guys got back at the same time and wanted to clean up. The staff was extremely accommodating with the first night having dinner at someone's home, another day staff gave up their time to take us on a hike 2 hours away and time spent in Leavenworth. The trip closed up with staff giving up their time to take us to church service in Yakima. A huge thanks to the Westside Church for lending out their short bus to FHYR for our transportation needs all week long. I would definitely consider volunteering my time here again.

Our son went to Flying H many years ago and I cannot stress how horrible this place was. There was little to no supervision; they sent the boys (12 of them) out into the wilderness to play a paintball game. The boys beat our son up requiring him to go to the hospital for two different surgeries (and during the fight, not one teacher was around. They withheld medical treatment for our son (gave him tylenol) and didn't take him to the hospital for a couple of days. He broke his arm (sheared of the radial head of his humerus) and tore the lateral collateral ligament. Unless this organization has changed ownership, I would never send a child to the Flying H.

I was there in 1996, some good staff and some not so good staff. We were forced to watch a dog get neutered with a pocket knife as a warning not to flirt with the ranch staff daughters. We did work crew daily from sun up to sun down, did all the dishes, cleaned the lodge, stoked the steam boiler, renovated the bunks and school as well. I guess it helped me get out of my environment for a year but that's about it.

Our 16-year-old son has spent the last 13 months as a 'ranch boy'. He came into the program as rebellious, depressed and destructive. Over time, he has markedly improved his behavior and attitudes. I credit Flying H with consistently modeling Christ as Lord for the young men in their care. The ranch offers a healthy mix of study, work and recreation designed to teach respect and consequences for both good and bad behavior. Obviously, some boys respond better than others. The program has worked well for our family. No environment is perfect, and it was difficult to leave our son at a 'troubled youth ranch', but in retrospect it was the best thing for him. I especially admire the Christian staff missionaries that have loved and encouraged so many boys through difficult times in their lives. They have been such a blessing to our son, who is now being productive with his time and making good decisions about his future.

We have a son on staff at this ranch. It is a Christian ministry to families who are struggling with their at risk sons. Their 18 month program, which includes a fully accredited High School, is very effective at turning boys from their self destructive lifestyle, often to faith in Christ.

Our son has been at the ranch for 5 months, and he has learned much about himself, the importance of working hard, and most importantly, character. They are giving him a wonderful foundation for his life!

The flying h is a rehabilitation-style group home for troubled teenaged boys. They have a dozen full time staff families who live on-campus, giving the residents top-tier attention and guidance.

This program has changed my sons life. He was defiant and home, failing his classes at HS, running away and smoking from a vape. We tried everything, grounding him, taking away everything, positive reinforcemwnt for when he did good, nothing worked. Discipline in CA, is limited, as we are not allowed corporal punishment. So parents dont have much authority. We packed his things, and flew to Portland for a family visit. Then drove him to school, he wasnt exactly theilled to find out we were leaving him there. But the staff and his mentor were welcoming and after 6 months he has changed to be a fine young man. He grew muscles, a live for Jesus and a value in respect. He couldnt thank this program enough. He will be caught up on his classes, and Graduate HS from the Hope Academy and has every opportunity to go to college or wherever he chooses in his future. Thank you so much flying H youth ranch you have saved our family.

Amazing institution! Changed our sons life. Taught him respect, kindness, integrity and a sense of work ethic he wouldn't have gotten anywhere else. His education was catered to his ability and follows both our home state and the state of WA requirements for HS graduation. This 18 mo program is worth every dollar. Thank you to the staff and families who have greatly impacted our lives.
