Had the BEST time this weekend at Whistlin Jack's campsite. I had a hard time finding a camping reservation in the National park, so this was a perfect alternative. Booked 2 campsites for my group of 8 and it was the perfect space on the River with lots of space, including a fire pit and picnic table. It was secluded but also with the convenience of being next door to a little shop, bar, and restaurant (with great food). The location was also perfect - we did a nearby hike at Naches Loop and hug out at Bumping Lake. The staff at Whistlin Jack's was so friendly. I would come back and highly recommend!

We were camping in the area on July 12, 2023, and needed ice and a few other things. The store is small, inventory is lacking, fuel is ridiculous expensive. All that I could deal with , but the cashier seemed like we were a nuisance to her. We were the only customers inside the store, so it wasn't like she was overwhelmed. I think we just must have disturbed her peace and quiet by spending money there.

Stayed in the Selah cabin. $310 a night. First night there the power was off the first 5 hrs. Not they're fault but not mine either. Restaurant not open. Can't cool I'm the cabin either. Ask about roasting hotdogs at fire pit. Gal at front desk said pick a fire pit it's ok. Bought the wood at the store. While walking to the fire pit we asked a man if they had a preference which pit. He came unglued. No fires ! There's a burn ban except in approved fire pits at campgrounds. Ummmmm WJ has campgrounds! WJ offered no consideration for the inconvenience or not being able to use the facilities we paid for. I get it. It's July. No fires

The service at this gas station is pretty horrible. I showed up right as they were closing on Friday night to get some ice, which they hadn’t locked up yet and the lady gave me a ton of attitude about how she was starting to close and you could tell that she was not at all about serving the customer. I said never mind, I’ll go somewhere else. I went to Gold Creek who was already closed for the night and one of the workers was very kind to me. He said it wasn’t a problem and got me a couple of bags of ice just like that. Later that weekend we went to Whistlin Jack’s gas station for some ice cream. It was so chaotic in there. Some workers told people they had to pay first and then get their ice cream and other workers said people could just go straight to the ice cream and then pay. Multiple people got in line and waited for 30 minutes for ice cream and were then title to go pay first and go to the end of the line. The customer service at this place was not even close to what it was with the previous owners. Everything seems disorganized and multiple of their workers act like everything they do for the customers is a huge hassle. I will always going the extra few minutes to Gold Creek when I need things from now on. Very disappointed in the new owners.

I usually don’t do reviews but I feel led to do one for this business. We were up camping for memorial weekend and decided we wanted ice cream from whistlin jacks. We all drove down there (there was about 10 in our group.) We walked into the gas station and there were 2 very long lines one for the front counter and one for the ice cream. I specifically asked the lady at the front counter if we pay first for the ice cream or wait in line and order first? She told me to wait in line at the ice cream counter and then pay after so we all got in line. We proceeded to wait about 20 minutes and finally got up to the counter. When we got up there the lady asked if we paid before and we said no and she literally refused to serve us. Meanwhile behind us and at the front register was an even longer line than the one we waited in previously. She told us to get in line to pay and then get back in line to wait for ice cream again. She was VERY rude and very very slow serving ice cream as well. She got hostile and started serving the person behind our group instead. Very very disappointed in the service here. They need to get better workers in there with clearer directions and someone who serves ice cream faster. Especially during memorial weekend.

Very disappointed with the service. We went to get ice cream over the weekend and it was very busy. As we walked in we asked the cashiers if we needed to pay first or get ice cream, they said get ice cream first, so we waited in the line for 20 minutes to get the ice cream and got to the front and the lady told us they wouldn’t give us ice cream because we had to pay first. We told the lady we were told to do it this way by the worker and would just pay right after and she got rude and refused to do anything and told us we would just have to pay and get back in line again. We ended up waiting another 10 minutes in line after. I completely understand having a policy but it is a little confusing, especially when we were told different things by different people and very disappointed the lady decided to be rude and snappy like we should have known better instead of trying to help or make it right.

We heard that this restaurant had improved under new management so tried it out on Easter. What a disaster. Our waitress, Madde, was great, so things started out well. We ordered rack of lamb and halibut. It was nearly an hour before we received our meals and there were only 3 other tables occupied. Both meals arrived raw. Not rare, but raw. We asked that our meals be put in the microwave or oven for a bit longer. About 15 minutes later they came back cooked a bit more around the edges, but still raw otherwise. Madde had the manager come to our table and she looked at the meals and told us they cooked perfectly. Now, I know what raw lamb and raw fish looks like. We couldn't believe she said they were cooked right. One person in our party ordered a well done hamburger and the other two of us brought our meals home to cook ourselves. We did order dessert since we were starving by that time and luckily that was satisfying. What a disappointment because this place was great for decades until the original owners retired.

Spontaneously drove from Yakima to Whistlin' Jacks this Sunday. It's great to know 45-minutes can find us in a Cascade Mountain environment next to a river, including a small stream with waterfall. Outside seating is available next to the river. What was even more delightful was the casual environment of the bar albeit, on the street side of the property. We ordered cocktails and a Focaccia appetizer to share. Good thing as it was more than enough for two.The bread, tomatoes and balsamic vinegar were all of superior quality. The drinks were garnished with fresh and well-pickled garnish. Truly impressive based on an aged property, tastefully restored several years ago.Thank you to the relatively new-owners. Kudos!

Fuel was decent price considering the area. Stopped because there was a good sign to see before I got all the way upon the store.

So my sister's wedding was set for September up past Naches on the highway. I remembered how when my cousins would come we would eat at Whistlin Jack Lodge. I liked the location so I made a reservation for myself. I work two jobs and Innever stay over anywhere so I thought maybe I would enjoy a couple of nice quiet nights away from the chaos of a wedding As it turns out, my car broke down the day of my reservation. I didn't know what to do. I had to leave my car at the winery where our group had a pre wedding meet and greet and since I had NO way of getting back.and forth to Whistlin Jack I had to stay at another place that had been rented by my one of my sisters who took pity on me. I called Whistlin Jack's right away to tell them.of the situation, however they had NO pity. They could not cancel my reservation nor would they refund my money. I get it. There is a policy in ace, but they never moved mountains to help me. They didn't move anything. I was so disappointed about this. I had a legitimate emergency on my sister's wedding weekend and they left me out the money and stranded. No Bueno. Just saying.
