I bought a $9 "custom made" club sandwich at the deli. It was a bad value- small, only .63 lbs, very little on it, and they were out of a couple of the included topping options. Would have been cheaper and tastier to go to the local independent sandwich shop. Also, this store never follows the state plastic bag law that is intended to help the environment. Every time I go in I watch clerks putting every customer purchase in plastic bags without even asking if they need one, and they don't charge customers for the bags like they are supposed to. I guess they feel it's better to be a poor community member than inconveniencing a few customers...?

They allow a male employee to use the women’s restroom. I walked in and there he was - and there’s nothing non-dude like about him. I spoke to a manager who said that this guy identifies as “them” so he can’t do anything about it per Safeway policy. He’s been asked to use the single-room family bathroom but I guess he prefers the ladies’ room. It’s wildly unfair that women are made to feel uncomfortable and unsafe just because some guy decides he’s not a guy and likes the ladies’ room. All you have to do is say the right words and hands are tied. Safeway, take note.

I love the staff, they are always polite and respectful, even when dealing with the homeless and the theft.

Customer service is crazy slow. New policies are way overboard.

Staff is super friendly and helpful. The reasons I did not give 5 stars is no fault of their own. Location sucks. As long as you don't go during the neighboring high-school breaks, checkout should be fine. My largest grievance is the safety of the parking lot. I had a man coming for me while I unloaded groceries a few months back. So incredibly grateful to the staff who chased him away, but it would be nice if the store alerted their customers of the threat. They clearly knew who he was and that he was lurking and preying on customers.

Men’s restroom was broken and disgusting. Makes me wonder how sanitary the rest of the store is.

Everyone is always so kind and the pharmacy is great!! Sorry that I have to change my review from 5 to one star. The workers are still awesome and the the pharmacy is still amazing, but I can no longer, in good conscience recommend anyone shops here. Its dangerous. The city of Olympia has allowed violent vagrants to take over. Its dirty. Customers and workers alike are getting harassed, assualted, robbed. If you do shop here, keep your phone handy, and stay aware. Do better Olympia.UPDATE: The area is cleaned up, less sketchy folks milling about. Much safer than it was before! Still stay aware because there are still desperate people shoplifting

As usual Safeway pharmacy has to order whatever meds I need. What kind of pharmacy is always having to order your meds? Aren't they supposed to have medications in stock?

DO NOT USE THE GAS STATION, THEY ARE SCAMMING. I went and put $14 worth of gas in and got 2.349 something gallons which if you can do basic math, doesn't add up at all if gas is $4.79 for 9/10 of a gallon.

So I officially stopped shopping at Walmart about a month ago because of an exceptional team at Safeway in Marysville, Washington. The customer service in the store in Marysville Washington may have been the best customer service I’ve ever experienced in retail. The employees were engaging, smiling, helpful and know the business. Needless to say I felt valued as a customer when I left that store. I stopped shopping at Walmart completely because of the efforts of one team. today I did not have the same experience in the Olympia Safeway when I walked in it was just as the store had opened about 5 AM I came in to an exchange some shampoo and conditioner because I needed non-fragrant items. The fact that I was not able to be helped was not the issue. It was the customer service as a whole in the store. I first walked up to a gentleman filling up the self check area I asked him if he was a manager he did not reply just turned around and stared at me then I follow that question with do you know when customer service is open he replied, in a low, monotone voice “9 AM” I replied “all I need is an exchange is that something you can help me with?” I’m guessing you know what the answer here was. I walked away and asked no more questions because I felt as if I had been bothering him as if the interaction alone was making him miserable. instead, I put the items in my car. I came back into the store and purchased the non-fragrant items that I needed. The next employee I attempted to ask where the bathroom whiz was stocking product on the canned vegetable aisle this particular employee act as if they didn’t hear me. I encountered many employees as I was walking and selecting items throughout the store not one of them asked me if I need any help said good morning or smiled or showed any sign that they were happy I was shopping in their store I know it is impossible for all stores to run exactly the same, there are some that excel and some that do not but the gap in customer service between these two stores is incredible. Changing the behaviors of an entire store full of employees is a challenging task but I can tell you as a customer of Safeway. I expect it so please do all of your customers who shop in this store, a favor, and get this store, some training or accountability or whatever it is they need. The Safeway in Olympia Washington lost a valuable customer today and I’m sure they will continue to if they don’t learn how to treat their customers right.

Always good fresh vegetables and fruit. I like the small Rocket apples. They are just the right size for my 4 year old grandson.

Not my usual grocery store or usual time to shop. My neighbor wanted to go to this Safeway at about 4 pm on a Tuesday. Since it was the week after Mother's Day, there were plenty of markdowns in the floral department and all those products looked fresh still. In produce, there were plenty of veggies, but they were short on oranges. They were almost out of bananas: there was a single bunch left, plus some sad looking singles. Packaged salads were still within their sell window and there was a full selection of all kinds of dairy products. I was looking for a specific canned tea; while the store had the product, they had only three cans. Low sodium products were in short supply and it appeared that some hot cereals were being reduced so the space could be given over to sugary instant oatmeal, perhaps in response to customer requests. Safeway has many ready-to-heat meals, a bakery, a coffee bar, and other convenience items located at the front of the store, great for the grab-and-go customer who needs more than what they can find at a convenience store.
