They are the best at what they do, their burgers and Colombian empanadas are the best in the county, but their fries are the best! Their customer service and attention is great!

It's great to have the Hornet's Nest back! The new owners are very friendly and the food is amazing. I love that we have some different options like Empanadas and their flavored lemonades are fantastic.

This is a very critical review and likely the only one you'll have to read. Under the management of new owners taken in late 2023, this restaurant is better than it's ever been before. I've gone to this restaurant for over 2 decades, and it's always been a local option and a decent pick. Over the last few years the restaurant has passed from owner to owner, and one time even rebranded to Thai food I believe. That rebranding was a mistake, because this is one of the most well known family restaurants in the county. As for the current owners, they have taken the wheel and prooved to be more than capable of running a restaurant cleanly and safely. Hornets nest is better than it's ever been in the past, so why is it I feel that way? I'll tell you: the food is immediately cooked fresh when ordered every time, I NEVER have to be suspicious of the quality or hope to catch them at a good time. These people running it seems to be family of some kind and they're bilingual and more polite than any restaurant operators I've met so far. They're constantly trying new things and adding other fresh interesting things to the menu. A recent example being waffle cones and more milkshake flavors. They've added a Colombian twist to the menu, but kept all the local favorites intact faithfully, the restaurant is very clean and looking behind the counter, it's easy to tell their cleanliness extends to the kitchen and equipment. There's a well maintained outside area to bring your food out and eat, and they always go the extra step to make sure you're a repeat customer, and a happy one at that. Very few places ever get 5 stars from me, and I take my reviews very seriously with a critical and objective eye. I've seen the worst, and I've seen the best. If you enter this area, make time to stop here and try the food, because you don't wanna miss it. I come here frequently for waffle cones and soft serve ice cream (which by the way has an interesting malt like flavor that I've never seen before) and my usual order of empanadas with any choice of milkshake and a side of onion rings. I usually like to add at least one negative critique, but I truly cannot think of one to add. They've only just taken over and I cannot wait to see where they go from here. I hope they start more restaurants around this location. I cannot overstate the joy I have about living near a restaurant of this quality. I usually have to travel for places worse than this that are talked up too highly. Remember to leave a tip for the staff, because they have well earned it. Bring your family and friends, enjoy the low price points and friendly service of the Oroville Hornets Nest!Vegetarian options: There's no clearly set out vegetarian options yet at least, but they're shakes and ice cream, as well as onion rings and various other items are some of the best food I've ever had. I recommend anyone go here and try whatever suits your diet, because you won't be disappointed.Kid-friendliness: The environment is always friendly and appropriate. There's many regular customers and happy community members dining here, and it's hard not to be in a happy mood when you visit the hornets nest.Wheelchair accessibility: The restraunt is a historical building by definition and so it has no ramps or modifications made for wheelchairs; that being said there should be no reason it isn't fully wheelchair accessable. The curb is flat and there appears to be enough room to get a wheelchair inside. The staff and owners are exactly the type of people who would accommodate and help make that possible if there happened to be any problems getting a larger wheelchair inside.

Great local family owned and very friendly spot in an area that has few options. The arepas are great if you have never tried them. Places like this make rural America great. 10/10.
