I went today, and was very surprised. I read the yelp reviews, and I had been scared. A green cheek conure went onto my shoulder and would not come off. The owner is kind and nice, and told me a great place to get a bird from. (A breeder btw)It was not stinky, but was a small store. The pawn shop that shares the place is 1/4 of the shop, but then again it's a small shop.I would recommend for wanting to be around birds if getting one for the first time, but not recommending for food. Those prices were a bit insane.Sweet birds, and I will be coming back soon!

Absolutely wonderful business. Tom is so helpful and kind and the birds are well loved. I take my cockatiel here any time we're out of town, and it's great knowing that he'll be watched over by someone who knows how to care for birds. The rescue birds are friendly and love visitors, and it's good knowing that they're well taken care of by the staff and volunteers.

This place was absolutely disgusting. I guess they share half the space with a collectibles/pawn shop? That threw me off. The man behind the counter didn't even acknowledge me, and I looked at the birds right next to him. Water and food bowls were filthy, cage liners (newspaper)were covered in feces to the point that there were mounds of turds under where the birds frequently perched. I felt so sorry for these babies, and those were the birds I could see in the front room. There were more in a back room behind a glass window. This place is a health hazard- to humans and the animals it's supposed to care for.

I’m completely horrified by the conditions in this place. Cages crusted with food and feces, birds that were dirty and crammed in too-small cages. It flat out stank. They had a blue and gold and a severe macaw in the same cage together, and it wasn’t fit for anything bigger than a single African grey if I’m generous. Plus there’s a coin seller in half the store so everything is crammed in together.I have seen someone named Todd responding to reviews from a year ago saying the mess is because he can’t get in volunteers. I realize the pandemic made it hard, but there are no restrictions anymore. If it isn’t feasible to maintain these cages and it’s been this way for a year or more, it is time to stop accepting birds and reduce the number in your care. Everyone acts like rescues are above reproach but this looks more like a hoarding situation.

I have wanted a parrot for a long time but I needed to do my research to see if I would be able to be a good parent. Yes, the store needs some TLC but, I have been in several times. .my . each time the owner answered my many questions. The.parrots all looked .healthy and very alert. Quite a few were cruising outside their cages. I know now I want a bird and will be able to care for it. My thought appreciate the effort. The owner is making to provide a safe loving atmosphere and help him build his volunteer crew. I will continue to support this small local business.

To all the bad reviews animal sanctuaries take a lot of work and cant be done by one person hes clearly giving that store everything he has if u truly want to see the animals be in better conditions u volunteer and help not write bad reviews and waste his time and energy that he can be using to help the birds by making him read and reply to it I really hope that someone who reads this volunteers cuz I would if I could I live too far away

Bad service. I ordered an item from their website and waited for 2 months for it. After the first month I emailed them to ask when it would ship and they never replied. I also left a voicemail they never responded to. They eventually cancelled the order without sending me a notification saying it was cancelled. I never should have wasted my time waiting and should have just bought from a big-box retailer with reliable service

These one star reviews are disingenuous at best and flat out lies at worst. He very obviously cares about birds, and is also extremely knowledgeable. I take care of my parents' 20+ year old African Grey when they are out of town (which is a lot, since they own a RV). My parents live in Port Orchard and have used Todd various times at POPP before, but I had no direct experience with him or his shop until recently. I left the bird with Todd to be boarded for just over a week. I brought food, but didn't need to. I did bring some toys out of her cage per Todd's recommendation. He took care of the rest. As far as the shop goes, he has a great selection of the Volkmann bird seed which is not only a very good seed, but the only one that our Grey happens to eat (she eats a variety of human food too). When I picked up the bird and took her home, she seemed happy and healthy, and immediately settled into her routine at my house as soon as we got home. Based on the high level of care I witnessed from boarding, I wouldn't hesitate to use Todd for any of the other services offered--and I will certainly be boarding with him again in the future.
