*BUYER BEWARE*
The manager of this hotel and the company Vacasa they use to manage The Washington Hotel in Port Townsend are heartless and money hungry. I’m a single mother and both my daughter and I have asthma. My daughter wanted to go whale watching and bioluminescent kayaking this summer. The closest place to whale watch is Port Townsend. We’ve never been to Port Townsend. Researching hotels in that town this is the only one we found that appeared newer with its remodel. The price was listed at $130/night. After their multiple fees and taxes the total for one Monday night was $661.27. It was the most expensive room in the area but we needed a newer room for our asthma. 8/24 we stayed in Poulsbo and did bioluminescent kayaking in Port Gamble. 8/25 we drove north to Port Townsend to The Washington Hotel. We had N95 masks on due to wildfire smoke in the air and the rise in local Covid cases. Entering the hotel with our masks on we immediately smelled a disgusting moldy musty smell, and as you walk up the stairs you smell a strong perfume odor, most likely trying to mask the mold smell. We went into the hotel room and took off our masks to see if the smell was okay in the room. It also wreaked of mold. We could not open the windows in the room because of the wildfire smoke outside. We put our masks back on, left the building, and I called Vacasa who manages the hotel to let them know about the issue and that we cannot stay in those unhealthy conditions. Long story short, I requested a refund and they will not provide any type of compensation since I did not purchase trip insurance. We had to drive an hour south back to Poulsbo to rent a room at the hotel we stayed at the previous night. Our whale watch tour the next day left out of Port Townsend at 8:30am so we had to wake up extra early to make it on time. I recommend staying at a hotel in Poulsbo or Sequim where they provide healthy hotel rooms.

Quaint Comfort with Snack PerksThe Washington, a delightful small hotel, surpassed expectations with its tastefully designed rooms, creating a cozy and elegant retreat. Located centrally for easy access to city attractions, the absence of breakfast is compensated by an array of complimentary snacks, making it a perfect choice for those who appreciate thoughtful hospitality and a touch of luxury.

It's the best parts of staying with a friend with the privacy of a hotel setting. The rooms are decorated in a warm, inviting way, with local art adorning the walls. The little snack kitchen is ideal for the late night munchies. And the location is prime, within walking distance of so many cute shops and restaurants. There's absolutely nothing I would change, and will definitely be visiting again.

We loved our stay! When we got there the hotel room was cute, clean, and cozy. Parking on the street right outside was easy. It’s one of the few hotels located downtown, which means you’re in walking distance of literally everything. I appreciated that check-in was contact free (basically an email with entry code). There were so many nice little touches to make us feel welcome. Next time we're in the area, we'll definitely be staying here again.

My husband and I spent 3 nights over the weekend of the Wooden Boat Festival in Port Townsend. Clean room and this sweet hotel has only 4 rooms. Great location to the Festival. Quiet, off the main street. Good location to everything in Pt T.

Clean, fridge in room. Online check-in, keycode for the front door and another for your room. Just a few blocks from the water. Many restaurants and shops close by. Downsides: no A/C so I couldn't stay here when it gets hot. The toilet is so tall, I could not let go until I put a box under my feet. No elevator, about 15 feet of stairs. Beds are so tall, my 5'4" wife had difficulty jumping up to get in bed. No screens on the windows.

Beautiful rooms located by the main road. They had music playing to welcome us, comfy beds, windows letting the water air in, and a spacious bathroom.
