Horrible attitude toward customers. Looks like FT is saving tightly on customer service and it will drop a heavy weight on head on a poor customers. For example FT will block your card in any possible situation without any notification/call and will make money access your headache: to get through not helpful and unprofessional FT customer service in case to get access to your own money. ("your issue is not under our department supervision and correct department is closed now" attitude ). No, you will not receive a call - FT simply will block your card and will make it your problem (like you don't have enough problems in your life).But the most beloved FT strategy to give a client hard time is to block clients card when FT clients are traveling. Yey! Try to get an access to your money dear client when you are traveling - have a fun adventure without your money! You will remember FT for that! You will call several times to FT to put travel notice before travel, but FT deliberately will block your card and prevent you to access your own money.I don't recommend FT to friends and family members.

I have been with FirstTech for 3 years and I would say the experience so far is fabulous as all of my bankking needs are mostly done with emails. Special mentions to Ritu, her dedication and professionalism have truly stood out in providing exceptional service. Whether it's a prompt response to emails or a commitment to ensuring a smooth process, Ritu has consistently demonstrated her commitment to customer satisfaction.Unlike other experiences I've had elsewhere, she takes the time to understand my needs without pushing products. I've had nothing but bad experiences dealing with First Tech in taking out a mortgage on my first condo and subsequently on my first home. They fumbled so many things in the process of taking out these two mortgages. I really should have learned my lesson the first time and just gone with BECU the second time (my own credit union rather than my husband's). In a nutshell, the process of taking out a home loan with them was stressful. They would drop the ball and forget to ask you for something, and then call you at the last minute for you to return it to them ASAP (like waiting until my lunch break to respond to them wasn't fast enough). Do these people realize I work and can't always turn things around for them instantly? Their mortgage team is also horrible at communicating with you and is super unorganized. They say one thing and then another turns out to be true. For instance, on our second home, we were hoping to take out a bridge loan from our condo to use in purchasing our second home. They then changed their minds and said that a bridge loan wasn't available to us and it would have to be a HELOC. In the end, it was taking them over a month to process the HELOC and we were afraid of losing the opportunity to buy the house that we wanted, so instead we just put down a low downpayment (like 5%) and informed them that we'd be putting in the 20% necessary to get rid of PMI once we sold our condo. Their tone upon hearing about this decision was annoyance, like we watsed their time in getting the process started for a bridge loan/HELOC (but really it was them who were wasting our time) and they blamed their slowness on our condo's HOA, who they asked for an unreasonable amount of documentation from to make sure our condo was a safe asset (funny, they didn't care this much about our condo when we took out a loan to buy it). They said we'd have to wait 6 months to get rid of PMI and reamortize our monthly payment (which was very high since we had put so little as an initial downpayment), and they said it didn't matter when we paid the extra principal payment to get our equity up to 20%. To our horror, it turned out that there's a window after paying the additional prinicipal payment (which was like $100k of our money) in which you'd need to request reamortization to lower your monthly payment, which was a separate process to requesting the removal of PMI (again, no communication with us about this policy when we told them our plan, and no mention of this policy anywhere on their website). We fell outside that time window, and now we're stuck with a high monthly payment. To reamortize at this point, we'd need to save an additional $42k+ in addition to making our high monthly payments. We pleaded with them to make an exception to this rule for us (after all, it would literally cost them nothing to do this), but they refused. Overall, they have been cruel and cold about everything. They expect you to bend over backwards for them in getting your loan processed, but then constantly make mistakes themselves. Literally go with any other credit union to finance your home purchase. Also, their customer service lines have you on hold for a long time, and transfer you to different departments, which drop the call, or they usually tell you they can't solve your issue on the phone and they'll need to submit an inquiry on your behalf and call you back (which they only do half the time). I can't wait until mortgage rates drop so I can refinance with a different institution. I hate dealing with them so much.

I had amazing help on a phone call!! I ended up calling about a pending payment on my account and I didn’t know what to do or how to fix it. But thanks to John he was able to give me all the information I needed reassure me that if anything was to happen he would help me fix it. And if I needed any more help I could call back and request him for help! He made sure I had everything I needed and was super kind and helpful! So thank you First Tech for having a great customer service you guys made this stressful situation less difficult

Teller wouldn't cash a check I brought in because it takes a couple more steps. Made me wait for a banker. Never had this before, thus location uses to be great it has really gone down hill. And when a "banker" finally did help me she gave me the 3rd degree making me feel like a criminal. Horrible place.

Never ever exchange foreign currency with First Tech. To do that, you need to place an order in advance. Which is fine, but I spent more than hour trying to phone to them. They didn't respond, so I had to visit their branch in person even for order. For some weird reason they said that if the order is placed after 11AM, it takes 5 business days to process. So they recommend to visit them again next day before 11AM just to place an order that can be processed within 1 day. So, I had to visit the branch twice just to make an order. The worst part of it is their exchange rate. I wanted to buy 10000 euro. I didn't even expect the rate being so big, so I haven't asked about it explicitly when I ordered. They didn't told me the rate either. So next day when I came to them to pick up the foreign currency, I learned that the rate is about 7% more than the actual rate. Which is about of $800 loss in my case. They refused to cancel the transaction, giving me the only option to convert it back to USD, losing $800 more. So I essentially didn't have any choice and was forced to get euro. In the end of it, the representative blamed me about not asking about the rate in advance

I have been with First Tech for over two years. The insurance department is good and professional, however, the banking service has been slow in many core services, including receiving the bank bard, check, and payments & credits. In addition, here's my experience as a PREMIER customer: a. Extremely difficult to get my issues resolved after many calls, the customer service makes no effort to listen to customer requests. b. The bank policy is not flexible to ever-changing situations ( e.g. tech layoffs hardship). As a result of a. and b. I lost 12K+ dollars. So I will close this bank account once the business issues are resolved.

Went out of my way to give this review. was supported internationally for 2 days. at which point I was cut off. the app and the website "were having issues that prevent me from logging in". I do not have roaming credits on my phone because I trusted that my bank would not abandon me part way through. Abysmal Service. Truly abysmal. If you are going to cut me off and then not have business hours for calls and also not have a website OR AN APP. at least don't build up my confidence first.

Last month I went to first tech and had a enjoyable experience with my financial solutions representative Ritu Jakhu. She was extremely helpful in getting me what I wanted, even bringing a few things to my attention on how to better use my account and save money.10/10 customer service.

This bank is one of the most frustrating banks. It is impossible to pay off a loan because they have very low daily transfer limits (which their branch people are unable to raise). They don't integrate well with services like Plaid so you can't link banks quickly. Once you pay off the loan, it took them 3 WEEKS!!! to process the closure. Then they don't have Address validation in their systems because they sent the documents to the wrong address. Then they won't send the documents to the correct address because even after 2 weeks of delay, they don't consider it long enough to wait for the mail. Their customer service is useless too. Even if another bank offers you a worse deal financially, GO TO THE OTHER BANK. This bank is USELESS and INCOMPETENT. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS IF YOU VALUE YOUR SANITY.
