I am an older, less tech-able person, and despite attending 2 tech workshops for older people, still can't manage getting the Digital coupon stuff onto my phone. So, I talked with a nice manager at this location, who told me just to ask the cashier for the digital price. So, I did. And she bloody went off on me and started screaming at me! This was weeks ago, and I am still so upset and embarrassed that I have not shopped there again, except for one item once when it was convenient to just stop there for it. Since when does a cashier yell at ANY customer?!! I didn't do anything wrong. I just asked for the reduced price that other people were getting from the store, and she acted like I'd threatened her or worse! I used to be a cashier when I was young, and not in a million years would I have thought it was ok to yell at a customer for ANYTHING, let alone for what I did! What gives here?!!!

4 *s FOR EDDIE AT THE READY AND JAKE'S SAKEI stopped in the Redmond Overlake Safeway to get some groceries on March 1, 2023. I wish to give a special shout out to their Front Manager Jake for being of great assistance re: check out and post check out assistance. He did so in a most friendly and helpful manner. I also wish to give a shout out to Eddie at the bakery for his special assistance tonight.BUT APP = CRAP ANDSAFEWAY = SUBSTITUTION INSTITUTIONThe Safeway app does not tell shoppers where to find their merchandise (unlike the QFC app). And it also takes too long to load up even when using the store's free Wi-Fi. But at least you don't have to ask an employee for a Wi-Fi password. And also, in the recent past when I have ordered groceries via storepick-up out in the parking lot, I would continually get substitutions (not just at this Safeway, but at one other as well) even though I checked "no substitutions." (not the app's fault). Though the Safeway app is easier to use than the QFC app, unauthorized substitutions is one problem I did not have with QFC. COVID MOSTLY VEXXED ESP IF UR VAXXEDI notice nowadays that merchants and customers don't wear a mask in blue state Washington so much anymore. No big, since Covid seems to be on the wane, it's therefore much easier to just come inside the store and shop, both here and at QFC. This is also true just about anywhere else, until truly user friendly shopping apps become the norm, hopefully in time for the next pandemic! (which could be far worse) But since a friend of mine recently got infected, I for one won't count Covid down for the count just yet!SHELVING SHORTAGE AND SHORTSTAFFING?As for selection and prices, I would say Safeway is on par with QFC and other big box grocery stores. Today, I have not noticed any shortage on the shelves or any short staffing (all byproducts of Covid BTW) as the store was not very busy at the time I stopped in. BROKEN ENGLISH NEEDS REPAIROne thing I have noticed, though is that Safeway had at least two employees tonight who do not speak English well. I have not noticed this at either one of the QFC's that I have reviewed on Yelp. I have no problem with fluency with an accent. But broken English that one cannot understand, to the point one is forced to speak to another employee or manager, can become problematic. This is especially true if the store is busy.

I do like Safeway in general but at this location I've had pretty bad luck with some of the fresh food items. The latest issue was buying lettuce and it having 4 dead fruit flies in it. So that was.... Gross. Lol. Everything else has been fine. Nice people. Chill setting. Just won't buy anything from the fruits/veggies section.

I placed an order on safeway.com for a tray of deli sandwiches and paid for them on line. After a TON of confusion about this simple order resulting in - unanswered texts- people answering the phone who didn't understand -people behind the counter who didn't know the address of where they were working- being sent to the wrong department - and a guy named Gary who was posing as a manager who attemped to calm me down by repeating over and over "I ga choo."...I was on my way with the my tray. The next day, in my checking account.....there was a different charge. No one called about the priceNo one talked to me about the price when I arrived.I called the next morning (and don't bother calling before 8am because NO ONE HAS A CLUE WHAT TO DO BEFORE THEN) and was told...The item I ordered on line was no longer available at that price, so they made you what was available and charged me accordingly. And they are 100% okay with doing business that way.PERIOD!

Ruth is the super friendly pâtissier i met at this Safeway at 15000 NE 24th StRedmond, WA 98052United States. She is by far the best baker i met near Bellevue Redmond who really is so good and listens patiently on our requests and on top of that she suggests what blends well with our expectations on the cake.I have associated with her from last 5 years starting babyshower cake and all my daughters birthday cakes were prepared by Ruth. Thanks a lot .

This review is specifically about an employee named Robert who is some sort of front assistant manager, (I don't know his specific title.) I came in to return or exchange a bag of rice. (Once I'd gotten it home, I'd realized it was enriched.)When I lugged the bag in, Robert was wandering aimlessly and actually stopped right in front of me without realizing where he was going. I politely said excuse me, twice, so that I might be directed as to how to take care of the transaction. He ignored me, then wandered away from the customer service counter toward the front doors of the store where he'd just come from. I asked the checker and bagger and they called Robert back, and he reluctantly ambled over to the self check area. From his demeanor and facial expressions, I knew that this was not going to go well. This was an unhelpful person. He told me that we don't do returns from puchases from other stores that are over $15 to $20. Not to nitpick, but my purchase was for $14.99, and I pointed that out to him, but he still refused to take the return, and didn't even offer me the option of exchanging the item. I could tell that he just flat enjoys saying no to people. How very sad to be so petty. I almost feel sorry for him. Almost. The other people working there seemed friendly, helpful, and were actually doing their jobs. They weren't wandering around or giving excuses that didn't make sense in the interest of feeding an underfed ego.I went to another Safeway and they took the rice back, and I had absolutely no problem. It was my first time there, and I won't be back unless Robert no longer works there.

What is wrong with me, that I keep coming here? Once again, I stopped by to pick up a few things and got overcharged. This time, I picked up a bag of oyster mushrooms and the cashier charged me for chanterelles, which cost nearly four times as much. Because my total seemed a little steep, and because I've had prior experience with this particular Safeway before, I took a close look at the receipt before I headed out the door and realized what had happened. I immediately went back and explained that I had been overcharged, and to her credit the cashier gave me the difference in cash. But I'm done watching the register like a hawk. Ain't nobody got time for that crap.
