Need facility for kittens. Was warned VCA is expensive. Went in to gather information and received none. Not even base costs for standard services.Basically, we can schedule you an appointment and afterwards you'll find out. I'll pay for good care and service, but have no confidence after visiting.

Though we've been long time clients here, I can no longer recommend them. Some of the doctors and staff are awesome here but the back office people just keep making more and more anti-customer changes. The prices have also skyrocketed and in some cases are more than 50% higher than other very close by animal hospitals with great doctors. I highly recommend people go elsewhere for their pets as you'll get better all around care and avoid sky high bills.

Dr. Karen West is a good veterinarian. She is very knowledgeable, gentle, and engaging. She validates my experience and she is happy to explain treatments in detail. Amanda is a good vet tech. She is even-tempered, professional, confident, and knowledgeable. It was only ever a positive experience when we were seeing Dr. West and Amanda was our tech.Besides those two shining stars, this clinic is chronically overworked and understaffed. Front desk staff are uncertain and dispassionate and seem scared and rushed. I haven’t had experiences with every staff member there but some of the other doctors and techs can be dismissive and try to rush us through without explaining things. My dog is anxious and instead of trying to build a relationship with him they just muscle through and increase his vet anxiety. The advice they give has been pretty good but their treatment of us and my dog is overall fairly unpleasant. The building feels neglected, dark, and depressing. It is pretty clean except the first time I ever visited there was blood on the floor in the exam room from the last patient. It seems like there have been no updates since the early 2000s and there are decorations and “monthly” postings that were put up before covid. I always seem to pay more than I expected and I leave with a bad taste in my mouth.

Dr. DeBroek has been wonderful when helping my dogs cross the bridge. I think working with Old Dog Haven has given her a particular empathy when helping dogs and their owners. She has always been kind, as have her colleagues. While I don't do my regular vet care here as it's too far from my home, I'll make the effort for end of life assessment and euthanasia.

Definite five stars for Ivana Hui...I am an older person who has had quite a few dogs in my life, Dr Hui is sincerely the best Veterinarian I have ever had the pleasure to meet. I was given a complimentary exam for my sweet dog (from the Humane Society). I thought great, what a wonderful way to consider someone to care for Ruby. Dr Hui took all of the time that I needed to answer questions that would help with training issues that I was having, concerns with possible things to watch for (Ruby is an older girl), and food and other choices that are affordable (without trying to upsell their products). I could go on and on. I am so happy to find a Vet who clearly cares about the animal as well as the owner. I highly recommend Dr Hui and Redwood Animal Hospital...the staff is also extremely helpful and kind.

We've been taking our animals to Redwood for the last twenty years or so. Until recently, we were not just satisfied, but delighted with the care they received. Then VCA took over. Earlier this week, after a rather confrontational and outrageously expensive visit, we made the difficult decision to leave Redwood and find another veterinary to care for our aging animals. In the interests of brevity, I'll skip the long shaggy dog story of the specific outrages that prompted our decision. Instead, I'll simply summarize what we dislike most about VCA Redwood. 1. They are exceedingly expensive. Bills are inflated by breaking down every aspect of the visit and follow-on lab work into a multitude of micro steps with cryptic titles and large $ amounts assigned. At our most recent visit, we found several of those steps to be questionable and weren't satisfied with the answers we got from the vet when we queried her about them. 2. The vets spend an inordinate portion of each visit up-selling the customer on non-essential procedures, tests, and products. While you won't see it itemized as a line item on the bill, you're paying for the time spent up-selling. 3. Continued access to the products you purchase there (e.g. flea and tick treatment) are conditioned on bringing your animal in for a periodic check-up which is then used to up-sell you on additional procedures, tests, and products. 4. We have been underwhelmed by the professionalism exhibited by the VCA vets. In short, VCA has implemented an engineered business model that is focused on extracting the maximum amount of revenue from each customer. Additionally, I'd speculate that they don't pay their vets particularly well. None of the ones we've worked with strike us as being among the best and the brightest. To be fair, one of the finest, most caring and competent DVM's we have ever dealt with, Karen West, still works there. If your animal is really sick, Karen is the vet you want to see. Unfortunately Karen doesn't call the shots at Redwood anymore and it's difficult to get past the gate keepers in the front office to see her.

they turned away a client who had an appointment for a cat with a broken leg, delayed 5 min and called, then delayed due to road work out front of their own clinic.
the client, as most people do, had been timing this, was 8 min late, and the clinic said sorry, 10 min late, to bad for your broken leg kitty.
you lost a client and I hope more who read this.

The staff at VCA Redwood are phenomenal. They provided excellent care over the last year after we moved to the area and helped us keep our boy in good spirits before he started having sudden health issues in February. When treating Art, they laid out all of the options as well as the likely outcomes and/or risks of each.We ultimately decided to euthanize him given what we did know, and the risks involved with the procedures. However, they provided a very humane and gentle service and I will forever be grateful and appreciative of the care and respect they gave Art.Thank you so much for helping us care for our boy ?

They used to be very helpful here. But apparently randomly remove your pet from their system without telling you based on a "new policy" they didn't inform me of. My cat has not been sick so he hasn't needed an appointment recently, but because of that he is no longer allowed to get his PRESCRIPTION food from them.

We moved to the area a year ago, and brought our dog here on several occasions for checkups & to address worsening issues we were seeing. The staff was always lovely & informative, and tried their best to help us figure out what next steps we could take. Unfortunately, after some worsening issues with our dog not eating or drinking (and it being a repeat occurrence), they found a large mass on his spleen when doing x-rays. We made the difficult decision to euthanize Art, since the situation would become emergent, and the only hospital that could potentially assist further was an emergency vet in seattle that wasn't guaranteed to admit him. We didn't know how dire the vet staff shortages were until earlier this month when he had his first (similar) episode. They helped provide a peaceful & caring environment for us to say goodbye to our furry friend and prevent him from suffering more than he had to. Much love & appreciation to the doctors, vet techs, and receptionists. Art loved you all so much (as he did most people & dogs, but I digress).

This place just keeps going downhill. I am a member of the VCA care club. As a member, I am supposed to get free unlimited wellness checks for a very hefty monthly price. I requested a monthly wellness/checkup exam for my dog as a part of this plan. The new hospital manager Willow? called me and rudely told me "She cannot let me abuse the system" and she cannot give me monthly check ups. Note that this is directly against all their marketing and literature in their careclub packages which says "Visit us for as many exams as you need to keep your pet happy and healthy". The hospital manager told me they cannot give me appointments unless the pet is sick. In the end she told me that she will tell reception "I am allowed" to book an appointment every month on calling. Wow, so she had preemptively blocked me from scheduling exams for my dog even though I pay them a significant chunk of money every month. Just stay away from this place, I cant wait for my annual subscription to careclub to be over so I can move my puppy away from this rude and money hungry practice. They only care about your money. I will write again, the vets and most vet techs here are amazing. However the hospital staff in-charge of money matters(management) is another matter. At every point I have felt price gouged, not cared for and penny pinched.
