I was originally with School Employees Credit Union, which was bought out by Inspirus, which was bought out by Gesa. I’ve stayed through two mergers, but things have gone so far downhill that it’s time to leave. During my most recent experience with Gesa, I went in to the Tukwila branch to get a new credit card and the employee there read my card number and social security number aloud TO THE ENTIRE LOBBY and then told me that is their “policy”. What!? I am mortified and actively looking for a new credit union.

They pay good interest on your checking and savings accounts and are good to work with on vehicle loans.

Competency level was extremely low in that my request to stop auto pay to Comcast Xfinity was ignored causing my account to overdraft for services never received. I was forced to close accounts due to overbilling and duplicate billing from other financial institutions.

Things I LOVE about Gesa:1. They will randomly lock your Debit card and not tell you why. They will then blame it on you in some way and make you jump through hoops to make the card usable again.2. If you walk up to a counter and ask to withdraw from your account but don't specify which account (Checking or Savings) it should be taken from, they will automatically select Checking even if there isn't enough in it. This will result in your account being overdrawn and you incur a $3.50 "overdraft protection" fee.3. When they do this "overdraft protection" fee, it sounds as a transfer from your Savings to Checking, of which you are limited to 6 per month.4. Previously, you could do unlimited transfers between Checking and Savings. Back then, if you mentioned the transactional limit other banks have in this area, they would tell you that those banks are in the wrong and shouldn't have limits. And yet now they have it.5. The ATMs don't remember your language selections so you have to select it every time.6. If you overdraft, Gesa does nothing to notify you of it. No phone call, text, email...nothing. This can result in numerous "overdraft protection" charges to your account.7. Was in 2022, but called about getting a Home Loan in place so that I could buy a property. When we finally got a hold of a human (instead of endless ringing of the phone), we were told that they didn't have time for us because the property we were buying wasn't worth enough.Decided this weekend that I will keep my Gesa account until a loan I have is paid off. Once I've finished paying it off, I'm done with them. That day cannot come soon enough.

35+ year member here and If you had the pleasure of being a member of the original Teacher's CU/WSECU you'll understand how disappointing the current organization has become. I wouldn't say Gesa is worse or better than any given bank, perhaps just typical. Looking at Boeing or USAA as alternatives.

Just a great business in every aspect. I have been with Gesa since the 70's and they always come through for me. It's my only financial institution.

GESA is so much more pleasant to work with than the big banks. There are no fees for all of the services that other banks charge you for.

Do not do the car loan from Gesa. Absolutely filthy practices in how they verify your loan insurance - even after verifying and accepting, they will look for the days it took their system to accept it and charge fees. Their own system delays teh acceptance by 2 days. Oh, deductible wasn't right? Kick it out.submit again + 2-3 days? There's a fee. Backdating the coverage, then when you call you get long 20 minute phone calls with reps, and then there is no consistency. Call dropped transfering to a supervisor? Oh, call back in and wait 8 minutes for a rep. Will never do banking, or any business with them again in the future.

Halle and Erika are the best. Had a long conversation with both ladies and they were so helpful and informative. I had a blast talking to these ladies and learned so much. Gesa rocks

GESA offers English speaking, U.S. based customer service which is hard to find these days. There’s hardly if ever a wait time for a customer service agent and no annoying robot that will drive you crazy like other companies just to reach an agent. The customer service is top notch and their security department is on the ball. They treat you like a person and not a number. They also offer a wide variety of services! I can’t believe I didn’t switch to this bank years ago! I would highly recommend you give them a try. You won’t be disappointed.

I like this bank but they are sooo slowww in the drive thru and if you have a problem and need to call them on the phone it’s hell. You are literally on hold for hourS plural! Nice bank but they need to get a darn move on. Slowest bank I’ve ever been to with the longest hold times ever.

Learned about this CU when employed with the State of WA. Maintained accounts since opened and adult children also have accounts with GESA
