I would give them ZERO stars if that was an option. This is a pathetic excuse for a financial institution. They literally do NOTHING right. We travel overseas and our VISA card is not accepted although we informed GESA of our travel plans. Our debit card expires and they do not send a replacement even after we requested it. We ask for new cards and when we get them, the system will not allow us to activate them. These are just THIS WEEK'S issues. Every action with GESA is a hassle and exhibition of incompetence. DO NOT OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH GESA.

I was a member since this was a credit union for teachers-- GESA bought it. Service has sunk it feels unfortunate. I called today re a CD - not only was I treated to a snotty, rude staff but the 6 factor authentication code was annoying. Staff responded to each answer with a snippy, "than kyew"!! Where did she get her customer service training? I had to wait 5 minutes to speak to a supervisor; an additional 12+ to discuss both the extra authentication process and the manner. Given that my options vary - I have to call back- oh joy. EDITTED- I changed to 2 stars as I got to talk to someone else later with much better skills. EDITTED- 2/13- I gave a lot of feedback already I filled out an anonymous survey a yr ago.. guess what ?? people from GESA called me and I had to talk to 2. They wanted me to talk to someone else-- then I said I wanted to be paid for my time-oops then they didnt need to talk to me. This time recently I spoke w/ a few people and filled out comments clearly including asking to be paid for my time. I and most people are not members of a banking institution so we can teach them how to screen, hire, train, supervise etc.. their employees. Funny thing this comment came today as I am making an appointment with another credit union. Sometimes you have to cut ties- it is shocking and annoying but heralds change- yet change will provide better service, more energy for me.

I was a member of the School Employes Credit Union until they moved it to Gesa. Gesa is the worst financial institution I have dealt with. I have switched everything to BECU, except my credit card and I will do that soon. Getting hold of customer service if you can find it, is awful. They love to tack on fees which you then spend several calls getting fixed, to find out days later it is not. When you get hold of customer service, they are very bice, but that does not mean your problem gets fixed. School employes Credit Union, you could make one call and the problem would be taken care of. I am disappointed that School Employees Credit Union stuck us with such a terrible credit union.

I've been completely loyal to GESA since 1999. But I think I'm going to switch to some other bank. The customer service on Goethals is dreadful anymore. Trying to open a business account is a joke. Open a business account, they don't give me the documents I need to do online banking, I go into get what I need for online banking and they don't have what I need to access online account and of course once again, there's only one person who knows how to open a business account and they're not in. I can't deposit a check into my account without ID in any of my accounts. I could drop it into the night drop and it's fine. I can do it through the ATM machine, but not with a live human being. It's just not the GESA that it used to be. Think it's time to leave. I come into the bank multiple times and nothing gets accomplished. It's so frustrating.

I would give them zero stars if I could. I am another customer coming from School Employees Credit Union, then Inspirus to GESA. My advice to anyone looking for a good bank.... don't come here! They made me change some legal accounts set up by the former bankers. What they set up instead has caused me nothing but headaches. For over 20 years I did most of my banking here and never had one problem. All the goodness is gone now that GESA took over. There is no reason to keep coming here. Now I have to call or make appointments to even get statements and for my banking needs. How does one schedule such an appointment? You call and wait on hold to speak to someone and then they have a different person at the branch call you back at their convenience to schedule your appointment. You never get any confirmation or contact for the person you have an appointment with so you better remember everything and never have to change or communicate with that person because you will have to call back to the (800) number and speak to someone on the other side of the state and go through the whole process again. This place is a joke. Avoid at all costs if you have any other options, before you get locked into anything with them. Honestly, I get better customer service and rates on checking and savings at the big bank branch down the street. I am glad I have always kept the big branch for convenience. I also opened an account at another local credit union and couldn't be happier! My new credit union is happy to help and offers so much better customer service, rates, products... they have restored my trust in credit unions. GESA is joke and should definitely not sell themselves to you as a credit union. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time here.

The worst credit union I have the unfortunate experience of being a member. Fast Cash loan is at 35% making this CU nothing but a loan shark. Hell, even credit cards wont charge that percentage for a cash advance. My car title has not arrived to date though the loan has been paid off. STAY AWAY FROM THIS CU!!!

Once a happy customer with School Employees Credit Union, now as Gesa I have had fraud on my checking account four times in the last few years. Their fraud department is managed by another company and it was so chaotic dealing with them being told so many different things- I was told one day my card was cancelled and the next day called again and I was told that it wasn't cancelled and they didn't list the same fraudulent transactions as I was told before. I thought the fraud department was fraud! Total monkey business. With all this said, I am closing this account and moving to bank that is secure. The debit card isn't even contactless like my new one.

For the life of me I can't understand how a company can loose a whole online account and can't explain what happened. Also allowed company to take money out of my account that I did not make purchase for. When I went to do a dispute they told me that the almost $300 fraud payment would take 5-10 business day to show a provisional credit. Are you kidding me? I have since received that provisional credit and made a police report. It is not right to allow this to happen and when I tried to see who this debit was for there was absolutely no information showing on the summary. No phone number, no account number, no business name. NOTHING. When I call customer service to about the issue, I am asked several questions which is what I think they should have done with this bogus charge. ACCOUNT CLOSED!

Can't ahold of anyone. All they have is an 800 number that puts you on hold with no hold music. It's like you're calling the HAL9000 with no hope in site. There are no options on their website to do a loan payoff so you have to call them and their call in system is terrible. They have no way to contact them. I will likely go down to their physical location out of desperation. I will not use them in the future ever and will share this experience with everyone I can in town so they don't have to stumble through this quagmire as well.
