We switched over to Nisqually Vetrinary Clinic (Previously known as Horse and Cart Veterinary Clinic) after experiencing poor service from other clinics. What makes them phenomenal is their knowledge and competency from the front desk staff all the way through to their doctors. They are proactive in the waiting room when dogs are scared, aggressive or hyper. They take the time to explain procedures and advantages to certain services provided. They are careful and provide prompt follow up after procedures and give instructions on what to do as an emergency. When my elderly dog had reached his end days, they helped me with arrangements that were best for our family. A lot goes on in a clinic and even when they are busy with appointments, you still get personal care.

This is my family's clinic of choice for all of our pets. The veterinary staff are efficient and professional. They might stay a bit too busy to maintain familiarity with the pets and pet parents who are lucky enough to only need that annual visit. Because of that, they do present slightly unempathetic. Logically, too much emotion would surely skewer their judgement when treating animals though. The clinic has standard fees for a variety of visits but is exceptional at itemizing additional costs in an estimate prior to preforming any extra treatment. The fees and costs are reasonable and the clinic does not place a burden on owner's by trying to push unaffordable treatments. The treatment plans for pets are very individualized in consideration of each pet and owner. In urgent (not life or death) situations, the reception staff will work to get a pet seen as soon as possible but the appointments can still be a week or so out. However, they do have a waitlist protocol for getting sicker pets in quicker when other appointments are canceled. The clinic is not open after hours or weekends. The reception staff are sat low behind a massive reception desk. The privacy that massive desk offers for any pet records, transactions or appointments is appreciated. However, not only can the reception staff sometimes not see who is coming and waiting to check in, the environment as a whole is not entirely welcoming. Though the reception staff is friendly and empathetic, the reception desk is the only significant object in the waiting area and is often an area where the vet staff have conversations that aren't always mindful depending on owners' concerns for a waiting pet's appointment. The occasional practice of staff socializing in that area can sometimes leave pet parents feeling desolate and invisible. It's entirely expected that significant conversations will occur at the reception desk to best treat a pet, and an owner's sense of welcome should not play into the trust that is placed in the clinic, but unfortunately it does. I did not include this anomaly in my rating. Our family trusts the clinic with the care and proper treatment of our animals despite the awkward setup of the waiting room. If I had any suggestions, it would simply be to maybe get taller chairs for the reception staff. That could completely change the entire perception for pet owner's

Wonderful clinic! Despite not having established my puppy in their care, I was able to get dewormer prescribed for my puppy a week before his appointment. The vet techs were accommodating, and we loved Dr. Thomas was absolutely lovely and informative in our care. Will be bringing my other two doggos when their yearly exam is due!

Don’t waste your time!!! Patient since 2015. The service was always awesome but, we Moved out of the area in 2019 and moved back in 2023 picking up this office again as our vet. There were some warning post on fb, but I called them to verify that they could get our animals in if they were sick within a day or 2 and they assured me they could….. lies!!They are definitely not the same clinic!!! You cannot get a sick dog in to save their life! Before explaining the whole situation, they interrupt to tell you to go to the emergency vet. The 1st time I did and it cost me $1200 for kennel cough (dog was vaccinated for it). That broke us! Since then I have had a dog with and allergic reaction, one needing a shot, and one with a rash and can’t get them in! I’m not unreasonable, I just want an appointment within a few days!!! Staff is rude about it and it’s just not worth the frustration and worry for our dogs anymore! You would think a place like this would stop taking new patients and care for the ones that have kept them in business!

Love this vet office. Both Dr. Thomas and Dr. Lathrop are wonderful. They are very kind and really take their time to hear any concerns you have. They have been very reasonable in pricing and are very honest in what is needed/not needed for your pet. Thank you for loving on our pets and taking such good care of them at every visit!

Our first experience at Nisqually Vet Clinic was great. They were very accommodating and reasonably priced. We have been searching for a new vet due to raising prices and far off appointments and they were able to get us in quickly and provided great care to our kitty Mino at a reasonable price. Will be using them from now on for all of our animals.

I switched to Nisqually Vet after being at a Spanaway vet for a few years. The staff here is wonderful and Dr Thomas is amazing. I have a cat who is FIV+ and 13 years old. She has taken amazing care of him and makes sure she spends enough time during our appointment go to a full check up and go over any questions or concerns we may have. The only downside is I applied for financial aid and have been trying to reach the manager for close to 6 months to discuss my application. Other than that, they’re amazing. And they sell candles from a company that are safe for use around even small animals.

We have to give a five-star shout out to Dr. Debbie Thomas at Nisqually Veterinary clinic and some pretty great staff as well. Our 22-year-old feline fur baby, Rosa was Dr. Debbie's patient for some time. The level of care, concern, and education we received from Dr. Debbie was truly amazing. Rosa just passed away but we are confident that her wonderful long life is credited to not only the quality care and love we gave her, but also the same from her Vet who holds a special place in our hearts ♥️.
