It says you are open right now, but you are not. Every single month near the first you are closed early it seems.

Happened around 11pm. African American Male came up to me and demanded I pay for his stuff. Clerk did nothing. I ignored him, he waited outside for me and eventually came back in. He started at me again and I threatened to call the police. Clerk got involved and turned into a shouting match. Ran away the first chance I got. Stay safe, Seattle.

I feel like the prices are a little high, but it’s good to get the very basics if you live nearby Mostly snack foods and drinks. Consider it comparable to a seven eleven. No groceries. Definitely no produce. Open late! It’s good!

Been here twice, once in 2021 and again now. Both times I left with snacks and beer that had expired over 6 months ago. I haven't tried the sandwiches, but at this point I assume they're a bio-hazard. Come here if you enjoy paying a 1.5-2x markup for expired snacks, I guess.

For the last 18 months we have been living a block away from this market. Every weekend my husband and I pick up one six pack of Lagunitas. My preference is to go to the CVS on the corner of 4th and Lenora but my husband always wants to go to the Abyssinia Market to support a small business even though it is much more expensive there. This weekend however, we grabbed our six pack and once we got home and opened 1 could instantly tell something was off. There was no expiration on the bottle just a long serial number, but the beer was definitely bad. Maybe it was left out in the sun or was moved from hot to cold hot to cold. Whatever the cause, we new it was not good anymore, we have been drinking Lagunitas for years so we are aware of how it should taste. We dumped the rest of the bottle down the sink, put it back in the six pack and headed back to the market. We've always been under the impression that you catch more flies with honey than vinegar, so we were really nice. Explained the situation and said we would be happy with any outcome (refund, replacement, or even a replacement of two Lagunitas tall cans since the six pack we were bringing back had one empty bottle). I was surprised by the cashier's reaction. Very defensive, not friendly whatsoever even though we were going out of our way to be super polite and understanding. The owner came out and was a bit more kind than the cashier but still very defensive. We ended up just leaving the spoiled six pack with them at the counter and walked out. We walked the extra block to the CVS and paid $4 less for a non spoiled six pack of Lagunitas. IMHO just go to the cvs when you need alcohol, it will be cheaper, better quality, and you'll receive better customer service. If you are against supporting big companies, then you can take your chances at this market. After 18 months we never had a problem until now, so you may not either. However, we always had to deal with the higher prices and not so friendly staff, plus if they ever sell you an expired or spoiled product, you will be treated with a lot of hostility for letting them know.

This little place saved my life! There are no other markets near the Belltown Inn that I could find and we got the basics here, AKA wine and milk. It sounds so ethnic that you wouldn't think that they would have much, but they do.
