My husband and I went into the Ballard, WA branch on 9/18/2019 to get documents notarized, as we have numerous times in the past at the Edmonds, Lynnwood, and Seattle branches. The documents, just as in the past, required a notary and two additional witnesses to our signatures. The notary at the Ballard location, Candace Williams, notarized the documents, skipped over the two witness signatures, and gave the documents back. When asked about it, she stated that she wasn't sure if Washington was a state that requires witnesses on notaries, which I'm not sure how relevant that is when the document itself required them. Candace said she'd check with her manager, and after 10 minutes returned and said she was 'unable to find anyone who could witness because they don't know you.' Aside from having a relationship with Banner Bank including 5+ personal and business accounts plus other services that were opened at this exact location in Ballard, the additional witnesses are not required to 'know us' to verify our ID and witness our signatures. There were three other employees on staff, not assisting other customers at the time, and no one was willing to be of assistance. We now have 6 documents notarized without a witness that are useless and need to be reprinted and notarized again, plus the two hours we took out of our day today to get this done was a waste. There's a manager unwilling to assist with a service that the bank provides and staff unwilling to assist with a service that the bank provides.
