Having plenty to be willing to criticize, a car rental service is low hanging fruit. My average experience is a reasonably decent one. Arriving in Seattle two days ago, I was given a black Mazda M3, 2021. Nice looking and aside from having poor visibility fun to drive. The low profile came along with a recurring head trauma from smacking it every time I entered or exited. The problem was something else. Yesterday the computer informed me that the rear passenger side tire was not inflated enough. Easily resolved. Until the following morning. The car alerted me again that the same rear wheel was again below the acceptable tolerances. Because I'm aware that barometric pressure and temperatures are contributing factors, I was not alarmed. But today it dropped 10psi instead of the other number yesterday, I decided that it is a rental. Not my car, so it is their responsibility not mine. Plus, I'm planning to drive to the Olympic Rain Forests in the next couple days, a flat tire is not something to gamble on. So I scored a better car in the deal. At least a little bit larger, Chevy Malibu, lower miles, and the best part: THE WINDSHIELD AND FRONT WINDOWS ARE NOT FILTHY! Nor were the inside door panels. In the sunlight it was evident that soda or some sort of liquid was spilled and not actually cleaned. Nice car, tires hold air and has a better entry and exit height so my head and neck feel better about that aspect of going for a drive. I'm also awakening to the reality that installing an exceptional sounding head unit, with high performance amplifiers, speakers etc means that anything less, ie virtually all factory entertainment systems are borderline painful to endure. But as background music to dampen the road noise still has its place. I'm spoiled. Or perhaps I just appreciate home more these days.

regarding the white malibu I had for 5 days. This car had the following problems:The engine light was on from the time I had the car.The car would shut off every time I pressed the accelerator and would shut off. Then I had to place in park and restart at every street light or when I would floor it on the highway and the engine would start sputtering. The struts and shocks are shot when you go over a bump or on the freeway. The engine sounded horrible and I even called Avis to let them know of this issueI am requesting a refund on this rental since it was a horrible experience and the car should not be rented at all.I requested a full refund but they only refund a third of the amount. never will rent with budget nor avis.

Our vehicle was given to us dirty with just over 1/2 tank of gas. Given the option between fueling the vehicle ourselves and receiving a credit or waiting for the vehicle to be fueled, we took the vehicle as is. The representatives was dishonest about the credit and we received a huge fuel surcharge. After returning to the rental agency the fuel charge was reversed however no credit was issued. There are significant additional fees associated with this facility that were not initially apparent.

All these rental car agencies have the potential to be 5 stars, given what is probably the nicest ConRac facility I've seen anywhere. Of course, as many have noted, the wait times are unacceptable. Mine wasn't as bad as some others, but it just begs the question: why isn't this process all automated yet??

Thanksgiving morning, been waiting here for over an hour in the outdoor section just to get my car whose keys were supposed to be waiting for me when I got here. There is literally 1 desk worker and over 50 people in line. Horrible customer service. Terrible business. Will never use them again. There was 8 other car rentals in the same building without this problem. Budget/AVIS are complete garbage.

I rented my car at Seattle Airport aka SeaTac. When I arrived in the Rental Car area I was told that the wait to get a car would be at least 1.5 hours. Seeing that there were only two staff members at the counter, I wondered if the wait would be longer. It was. I waited three hours to get to the counter and order my car. Then I had to wait to get the car rather than walk to a slot and take off. The Kia I rented was fine. I don't know if Budget's problem was a matter of over-booking or being under staffed, but I hope they work it out. I will not rent a car from Budget again any time soon. I was told that this was not an isolated experience.

We wanted a Jeep Wrangler for our trip to Mount Rainier. None of the other car rental companies could guarantee a Jeep Wrangler except for Budget. The Jeep we rented was virtually brand new with only 14,000 miles. It was also a Willy’s Edition 4XE Hybrid which made gas mileage a bit better and made for an excellent driving experience. Will definitely look at budget first for our next rental.Edit: Just read the reviews of others experiencing a long wait. Luckily we didn’t have that! We arrived at the SeaTac rental car pick-up on Sunday around 12:45 PM and walked right up to the counter with zero wait. We were in and on our way in about 15 minutes. In fact, the only rental car company to have a waiting line was a new company name that I don’t remember. All the other rental car facilities were virtually the same as Budget. It may be because we weren’t there at peak season or on a Friday? Dunno.

It was my first time renting a car and it was so easy, the lady at the desk was so helpful. The bus took us right to the rental car place and there was no line what so ever. Returning the car was so easy as well. 10/10 recommend.

I was about to cancel my reservation for this company, cause I read all the bad comments here. But when I get to de place, there were at least 6 people at the counter, I only have to wait 5 minutes and the girl that attended me was very kind, and it was so easy to get my car, even they gave me a better car for the one that I had reserved. It was too easy and fast, sometimes I think that the competition is the one that writes bad opinions about this company, cause they were without costumers.

One of the worst rental car check out experiences I’ve had. 30-minute line to get keys; 45-minutes to make it out of the only checkout exit point (3 lanes merge into one exit—with no signage or warning!). Gas tank not full; oil change required message throughout trip. Interminable wait for shuttle bus at SEA both coming and going. (Also a dismal grade for airport shuttle service!)

If I could rate a zero, I would. We arrived at the Budget office at the Seattle Tacoma Airport to find an incredible line of customers waiting to pick-up their rental cars. The line took over 3 hours to clear for me to finally receive the car rental. And, a day earlier than the scheduled rental return date, I received a text from Budget stating that I had successfully returned their car. However, I was still using the car and did return the car as scheduled the following day, at the Seattle Tacoma airport. Amazingly, Budget charged me an additional $260 because Budget mistakenly entered that I had returned their rental a day early and in Ohio! You would think that someone in Budget would have questioned that data entry. Lesson learned, get a printed receipt from these clowns when you return your car.At any rate, I do not know how Budget\Avis remains in business. I will never rent anything from Budget or Avis again.

Absolute joke! Waited almost 2 hours in a massive lineup that stretched out the door at Seattle airport. Reason given? ‘Oh we have lots of events happening in the city’ but here is the best part…every other rental company (all are side by side) were literally EMPTY! Last thing ppl want to do after a long flight is wait hours for their vehicle. And those on business trips wind up being late for important appointments! Last time I rent from budget (and by extension Avis and zip car- same company).

If I could give no stars would! We waited in line over 4 hours for a car in Seattle as a lot of people on Avis side or managers stood around as only 6 bays opened at Budget! Will never rent from them again!

Obligatory "zero stars if I could." What's is better than getting off the five hour flight to stand in a two hour long line? Looking at 20 vacant booking agent stations while doing it. This company knows when the reservations are and when they should increase staff. They choose not to. This way, you can stand in line for hours for a car you already reserved, and they can make tons of profit. Never using Budget again.

Never again. Waited over an hour for my reservation. Had a special needs child so that became a big challenge for us. Heard that this is a norm with them. Any company that would allow this does not care for its customer.
