Camp Long is a natural and scenic area that features old-growth forests, a pond, and a large climbing rock from the WPA era. Visitors enjoy walking through the forests, exploring the pond, and discovering the quiet beauty of the "urban jungle." The park offers a range of amenities including a picnic area with covered tables, fire pits, and a tadpole pond, making it a good spot for picnics, relaxing, or walking dogs, which are especially fond of the area. It is a great place for solo visits, family outings, or outdoor adventures with friends. The park provides breathtaking mountain views and options for challenging hikes, appealing to outdoor enthusiasts. However, the park is often closed unexpectedly, sometimes during good weather, and it is fenced and gated much of the time, limiting access. Facilities like water fountains and bathrooms tend to be out of service, possibly to discourage unwanted campers. Despite these limitations, the natural features and peaceful environment make Camp Long a unique treasure for those looking to connect with nature and enjoy simple outdoor activities.
Not many markings that signal where to go. Homeless camp on both sides of what I thought was a trail. I will return but I will take another path. It was fun to see berries and the forest. I didn’t get to see any city views.

Great park that’s never too busy. Would give it 5 stars but it’s frequently closed for no apparent reason. Went today (it’s June and 70 degrees) at noon and the gate was closed with a sign that said the park is closed during icy conditions 🤷🏼♂️
