This place has piss poor service, some hot food items like their chicken breasts has been under cooked, they take their time placing food thats empty and have them refilled in a untimely manner, then they make you wait several minutes of your precious time replacing food thats empty, it's just a hot mess and I don't know how they stay in business with such practices it's a damn shame, avoid going there

Agree with others saying the staff is rude to certain people and they chat too long with others which creates longer lines. No self-checkout option. Prices are also marked up a lot. TJs, WFM, anything else is better.

I expected to pay more for higher-quality produce. Instead I paid more for similar-quality produce. If the Co-Op's policies on sustainably, sourcing local, and paying farmers fairly are true then that's great and a reason to shop here, but besides the societal impact of those policies it's just an overpriced grocery store.

Central Co-op is a great place to shop. The employees are very friendly and helpful. It has a great environment and good prices. It's a go to location for groceries.

Would give negative stars if that was an option. Horrible experiences here from supervisors, and Management. Have seen people get thrown to the ground for stealing and passive aggressive behavior from management (Doug)! The food is sub par quality from deli. I would recommend a different business for your health needs if you value your mental health also. Thank you. Also after being trespassed (informally for no apparent reason) do they profile customers? Apparently if you grab 2 moving boxes from the produce department and are already making your way out of the door. They can GRAB them violently from you if a customer asks an employee (even though you technically have the right to the boxes, and to not be HARASSED) , they will give the boxes to the other customer not the person who had them already. What the heck! Maybe I should hire a lawyer!

Me and My Son stopped in after Trader Joe’s. I love that they carry a nice selection of vegan foods! Little cheaper than the same vegan items other stores near by carry, little lower in price on some items! Awesome to walk the extra 6 blocks. They carry a nice selection of vegan foods in their fresh deli case which was awesome too! Loved the vegan macaroni salad.

Best grocery store in the city. Fresh produce. Best organic products. Best meat section and fresh eggs. Amazing coffee and deli with a wide selection. There is a small membership fee that can be broken up. I think it's 100, but it's absolutely worth it.

Better prices and selection than Safeway, larger store than Trader Joe's so people usually go to both, bulk section has so many good options for cooking.

Nice produce but bossy staff. We spent almost $100 and they were upset and made our teenage daughter leave bc she had no shoes but socks bc her shoe broke. They insisted twice. So we went outside only to be encircled by yellow jackets when we tried to eat our purchased meals. We will not be back. Garbage was way overloaded and attracted the yellow jackets too.

After my initial skepticism, I've come to like this grocery store quite a lot. (Conflict-of-interest disclosure: I'm a member.)The produce is excellent. The bread selection, both the daily and the plastic-wrapped or sliced kind, rivals what I was able to find at the long-extinct Nature's in Portland in the '90s. The ice-cream options (dairy-free and dairyful) are all delicious. (Well, I've tried most, not all.) There's a brand of miso soup that's consistently mind-blowing. And the other day I counted 11 varieties of pectin-free and gelatin-free plain yogurt, a few of which I first tasted here. (As a comparison, while I was on vacation in New York, Massachusetts, and Maine for three weeks this past summer, we spent most of a day, driving from town to town, and found only one. (No wonder so few Turkish people, percentage-wise, whose US experience is the East Coast, stay.)Also, the magazine selection is pretty decent. That is, it's very good in terms of the political, economic, and socio-political variety and maybe relatively limited but well-curated for the arts (Maggot Brain, New Noise, Hi Fructose, Adbusters, and a few others). I would appreciate a little more science content than a psychology title or two, and less woo, but nobody's perfect. (Feel free to fill in the ambiguous [grammatical] subject either way. As my views change, both meanings are becoming valid.)

This was my first time in. Great products. The tone in this store is so much different than Safeway. Everyone was so happy here. I didn't get any snide remarks for my questions. Employees were eager, chipper, and swift to assist. I'll be doing most of my shopping here from now on. I like to support jobs that create happy employees. Also, they accept fresh bucks.
