I have loved being a member of this community for the past year and a half. Everyone is welcoming and supportive, and has encouraged me to sports I never would have tried (like cross country skiing). The adventure staff is good at being accommodating of all levels. The cafe staff is wonderful. The coffee is great and I love the vibes for coworking or just hanging out with a book.

I love this place and wish it existed in more cities! TLDR is that their membership is an INCREDIBLE deal and PERFECT for anyone remotely outdoor-curious. It's also great for someone who knows what they're doing and is trying to get their partner/best friend into the same sports.
Their membership unlocks 1) gear rentals, 2) classes on how to use that gear, 3) organized events / outings to put it all into practice with folks with a similar skill-set / background, 4) knowledgable, friendly staff to offer advice, and 5) a slack you can use to coordinate your own adventures using input from the community. All of this was KEY for getting me into backcountry skiing and bikepacking (the 2 sports I'd been wanting to try for years but was priced out of and didn't know how to start pursuing); I now love those sports.
After using their high-end gear like the $1200+ mounted K2 backcountry touring skis, the $500 Big Agnes Ultralight Bikepacking tent, the $200 Thermarest Neoair, the $180 Big Agnes Ultralight packpacking chair, Osprey backpacking bags, etc. ALL FOR ONLY ~$150/MONTH I couldn't find myself going back to owning all of my own gear NOR buying cheap, poorly-designed, flimsy Amazon gear that I'd inevitably need to rebuy in a couple seasons. Renting the gear instead of owning it also freed up a ton of space in my home, which has been great/ I sold off my paddleboard and used it to pay for 2 months of membership; I now just use the Gearhouse paddleboard when I need it and don't have to worry about the hassle of storing it in my home.
Recap: The membership is an INCREDIBLE deal; the people are great; the gear is TOP NOTCH. You will NOT find a better deal out there.

Gearhouse has completely changed how I plan my trips. The rentals are always in great shape, and the shuttle service makes getting outside so easy. Everything is smooth, reliable, and stress-free. I just enjoy the trip, whether it is a hike or backpacking or skiing.
Couldn’t recommend them more!

Laid back work-remote hub. Good WiFi. Great drinks. Friendly staff. Pesto breakfast was tasty. Community feel.

This place is awesome! I wish we had something like this where I live. They were a lifesaver for us when visiting North Cascades NP, which doesn’t have a rental service with inflatables in the area and hitching a traditional kayak on the roof of a rental car wouldn’t have worked. Enter Gearhouse. Flew into Seattle so we rented an inflatable packraft that we could throw into our car before heading to the park - problem solved. We did have an issue with the device itself having missed a QC check and they refunded us for the trouble, no questions asked. This is a really great business that takes care of its customers. I also recommend the packraft - we’d never used one before and had concerns it may not be as good as an inflatable kayak but it was great and apparently we were behind the times.

A ski rental that also doubles up as a coffee spot. We went during the summer for breakfast when only one barista was manning the fort (an epic slay on their part given the business and complexity of some of the orders). The food was good but expect Seattle prices (🫰). Outdoor seating was stunning, it’s nestled away in a quaint and quiet neighbourhood ✨

Gearhouse is a truly special place. It’s more than just a gear rental shop; it’s a community-driven hub that welcomes everyone and prepares them for any outdoor adventure, whether it’s backpacking, snowshoeing, skiing, kayaking, and more.
The staff and owners are incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable, and kind. They excel at fostering a sense of belonging, particularly for the LGBTQ+ community, which is often underrepresented in outdoor spaces. Special shoutouts to Hannah and Jason for their expertise, and to Evan for his dedication to the community.
Gearhouse makes the outdoors accessible and enjoyable for all. Highly recommend it!

I was planning a backpacking trip, and didn't necessarily want to buy the additional gear I needed. I tried figuring out the website options, and decided to call the store - I spoke to Hannah who left me feeling pretty confident I was booking with the right place. I changed up the pack a bit based on her suggestions, and had a beautiful successful trip to enchanted valley. I am very tall, and when I showed up she packed me a long sleeping bag which was unexpected and awesome, and gave me a free coffee from the cafe while I waited.
When I arrived I found out the gear they offer ranges from backpacking to kayaking and even snowboarding. If I lived in the area I'd subscribe as a member all day long.
Thanks to Hannah

I had a great experience at Gearhouse with the Summit Club membership this past winter season. The ski rentals were fantastic and I got to meet a lot of really cool people. Evan, Hannah, Tony and Izzy are all awesome!

I love Gearhouse. They have good noshes, gluten free pastry, and actual heavy cream for my coffee.
They also use Okapi reusable cups.
They have trivia nights, game nights, occasional Sofar Sounds music nights, and shelves of books.
They also have countless outdoor activities I've never attended but lowkey plan to.
The baristas are all sweet as pie, and there's always hard cider on draft.
It's kind of the perfect place tbh.
I should go there more.

The best cross country skiing equipment rentals (and well maintained equipment) in Seattle for great prices. I had a difficult time making friends in Seattle, but gearhouse is a great third space, I've made a lot of friends to go adventuring outdoors with here ❤️
